I have yet to come to the point of believing that my stock MAF is a restriction and affecting my NA performance. I know what is, but it's not the MAF.![]()
I have never understood why anyone uses anything other than the stock air box with the paper filter. The stock air box is about the best you're gonna get, unless you're going for looks. Not knocking what you're doing and maybe you have some major HP under the hood that needs the kit. Any pics of what you have going on with the engine? We all like pictures.![]()
Do you have dyno time to prove that cause I do believe that lms has dyno time to prove that you are wrong maybe Geno could answer this for us.
As the op said he put the kit in and that comes with an 80mm mass air flow housing.
what are you talking about ? it couldnt be more simple. undo the air box and disconnect wires for maf then take out housing. undo the torx fittings on top of maf, take out the wire element, be careful, then place it in the lms maf unit. put unit back in air inlet, put on filter or either way and you plug the unit into new maf. the stock intake flows 560cfm, lms will flow 900cfm .it does not really provide more than5 hp on stock motor. with good exhaust ( headers, etc) and a tune 15-20 hp. the directions can be followed by a 10 yr old building model airplanes, in fact easier.technically you could leave the box, but think of this take your normal everyday straw, now suck through it, air. now do it with a toilet paper roll. you get more air in faster, period. conical filters are really an improvement in flow and maintennance. keep buying new filters or clean the one you have
i know that unless that cone is sealed off from the engine bay, it is sucking in hot air. My engine likes cold air. Dunno about yours. Swapping the maf without much else done to the motor is pointless.
I thought cone filters that required oil were bad for your MAF. That the oil can be sucked into it and fry it.

I am with Terry on this one, no need to waste the money. How many people have had problems just because they have an oiled filter and it gums up the MAF?
