The car was wrecked I think in September or October 2010. He listed it for sale here on LVC Novemeber 2010 and I bought it. I was to pick it up in March 2011 but weather was killer then and the travelling with a trailer from Rhode Island to Toronto would have been hell. In all the arrangements I found out that I was going to have major trouble bringing the car into Canada until I found a loop hole. If the vehicle being imported into Canada is 15 years or older all restrictions fall off the import for some reason. The car is a 97 but the compliance label build date is 09/96 so I had to wait until September to bring it across the border. I had the car shipped from Rhode Island to Buffalo New York to a holding yard and then I went over with the trailer and whizzed through customs. Duty and taxes cost me $150.00.
I am heading to the barn tomorrow to empty out the parts that came with the car, I bought everything the guy had for Marks so the car trunk and cabin was filled with parts and I need to do a final inventory of what I have. I even bought the XCal2 that has the tune. I am getting my buddy who is a master body man over there tomorrow to do a slight evaluation on the car but I am pretty sure I am going to need to pull it apart to some degree to do a proper evaluation on the unibody to see if it is damaged or where it is damaged and how extensive it is. As I have said, I have seen worse and fixed it myself so I am confident this car will ride again. Discovery of rust will most likely finish it off though. It was an east coast car but I have my fingers crossed.
