There may already be a thread on this, if so just point me in the right direction. I was wondering if any one with a second gen. mark Viii has tinted there taillights and if so if they can post pictures?

Maybe I am old at 32, but i never understood why people black out their rear or front lights. Being seen on the road means safety.
Yeah it might look cool and sleek, but at what price?

wickedwhiteviii's car. there are more around i'm sure.

I've never been a fan either. Not all cars can pull it off imo.

I was behind some dude once with tinted taillights and I crept up on him really fast during the day in rush hour traffic because I couldn't tell his brake lights were lit. That crap pisses me off and tinted taillights and headlights are stupid. Don't be a dumbass. Leave them alone unless you want to increase your chances of getting rear-ended.

If you get rear ended with tinted tails the blame will more than likely go to you. Do to the tint making it harder to see the stop lights. To me it's not worth the added risk.

i think only on certain cars, like a bmw m3, euro's like that. it looks good on the white gen 2 posted in this thread. some can pull it off, others it looks like crap.

i like tinted tails and colormatched tails and say do it if you want to. if everyone followed what most of the people on this site says and does eveyone would have the same freaking car and be boring as hell.

True dat! And if all the naturally aspirated Gen2s followed my recipe, they would have a mid 13 second car working on low 13s next year on stock internals and no power adder. That's how I chose to be different. And I do have some ugly steelies up front painted hammered gray. :p:D

Thanks for all the input guys. Not sure if I'm gonna do it or not but I work at a body shop and a couple of the guys there think I should do it since my car is black with black wheels. Decisions decisions.

If it was my car I wouldn't... I think they look very sweet but not worth the risk. I know Elliot (wickedwhiteviii) & he's already gotten pulled over a couple times. In the end you will do as you wish because your taste is your taste.

omg ryan i thought maybe you died in that car, like maybe its too much car for you!! you signed up here and then went missing for like 2 months lol. nice of you to keep in touch douche canoe! this is who bought my 97 most dont know since he never comes around these parts. he is probably signed up over at Cal's awesome lincoln board lol.

Not true. A buddy of mine rearended a lady with no working tails at all. He still was at fault.

Years ago, I had a dually yard maintenance truck lock up the wheels in front of me. I hit the trailer the guy was towing so hard that his Reese hitch had the ball pointing forward at a 45* angle. The police showed up, told me "You know when you rear-end someone it is ALWAYS your fault" to which I replied, "The guy locked up his wheels - look at the dually rubber marks on the road!"

The guy I hit got the ticket! I was actually quite surprised because he definitely was sounding like he wanted to give it to me at first.

tinted windows look sick.. too bad cops always pull you over for them, get so annoying. oh my you have tint on your windows, what an offense :P i think you should just roll down all your windows when you get pulled over so the cop isn't nervous and sees who's in the car and where they are, front seat passenger, rear passenger etc.. and for older cars like marks, which are 14+ years old, tint is good to preserve the interior from cracking and fading.

my 97 i had the windows tinted all the way around 5% limo black and even the entire windshield is tinted 50% and i never even got as much as a stare from a cop. you cant see inside that car during the sunniest of days!! even if you look straight on at the car during the day all you can see inside is the top of the steering wheel and the dash next to the steering wheel thats it.

Ha ha, real funny Jamie! I've actually been on here quite a bit I just hadn't posted yet, just been doing a lot of reading, trying to learn as much as I can about these cars. And WTF is Cal's Lincoln board?
