think i just blew head gasket. watched my temp gauge all the sudden peg all thevalves chatter, pulled over had smoke coming from everywhere, out massair, oil fill, of course radiator fill. kept taking water after it cooled, no compression, nowater in oil though. willfind out for sure tomorrow

That does not sound good. Sorry to hear. I never really hear about HG's going on the 4.6 though.

Don't waste the money! If you blew a head gasket, drop another block in it..

It's an aluminum block, so not only does the head need to be re-decked, so does the block

which side is it? I just found a brand new head gasket at the junkyard today. I think it said "left side" on the package. I also found 10 brand new head bolts too, still sealed in the plastic...

I'm not sure how many bolts each side uses...

Since the head gaskets need to be replaced. This engine would be a good candidate for grooving the heads.

im " waiting for laser"

Hey! While you're waiting, read this and let me know...

dont know . talked to the mechnic at mustang specialties at 4 said id have more i nfo and some pics tomorrow to share. i just hope im not completely #$%@!ed

after tearing down, one head gasket failed, and broke one timing chain, having heads magnafluxed for cracks today.
Unless you are planning on modding the internals, ya know imprtant stuff like rods, pistons and cutting slashes on the head then your wrists then you would be WAY better off replacing it with a donar cars engine.

Timing these motors is not easy plus the cost of gaskets alone would surpass a JY motor.
You can still sell the Teksid block for $250+. Ive done it a few times.

im looking for a motor now, ijust didnt want to have to change the computer since ive only got one more bullet left on my sniper, plus $ for me right now is an issue, but your comments with ed are always great, i wasjust gonna rub the head on the tree in the back of the shop for a crossgroove effect.

Why would you have to change the computer?

i dont know, im kinda new to this computer stuff,i built a couple of 5.0, a 88 GTA, 85 iroc, and 74 impala, all carburated. i just thought they went hand in hand. the pats system or something

nah. with just an engine swap, no computer change required.
the scil and key and things are the pats things that need to match.

No, no computer change needed. You are only swapping the giant hunk of aluminum under the hood.

Well, I installed a Fel-Pro head gasket, and that sun bish had 6 layers and was thick! So hopefully it will last...

You say your tight with $$$ and you took it to Mustang Specialties? They are very expensive! Good luck hope they don't shaft you too hard.
