So, I've got this bad habit of just buying things when I see good deals.

I probably should have asked this before, is there any reason why these GT500 valve covers wouldn't fit on a Mark VIII?

Apparently, they are new take-off's from a GT500 according to the seller. They look pretty good, but they do have some scratches from removal, that have been covered up with silver paint.

I'm probably just gonna end up selling them when Frogman comes out with the Carbon Fiber covers. I've got a set that I had powdercoated wrinkle black, also. I really need to make up my mind!

I also bought this recently to go with my polished Cobra intake. I'm still not sure if I'm gonna use this or not either. lol :rolleyes:
I know they supposedly don't help very much, if at all, but they just look so damn cool....

you wont be able to hook your cruise control cable up to that throttle body without modification, the pin sticking out of the linkage for the cruise cable is the same as a first gen, not 2nd gen, i was gonna buy a billet single blade accufab throttle body too but the price wasnt worth it, but the valve covers looks awesome!

I got a pretty good price on this one, so I convinced myself it was worth it, if only for the looks. lol.
I'll have to look into the cruise cable issue. I'm confident I'll be able to make something work if I need to. Thanks for pointing that out. Now I'll know to look out for that.

PCV ports are on the wrong end of the covers.

Also the throttle body is completly worthless unless ou are making over 550 rwhp. Big oval throttle body will just hurt the throttle response and make the car jerky plus it will ruin your mileage.

I just sold that same make and model one for $200.

I'm not super worried about the PCV ports. I can make things work and look good if I need them to. At this point, I'm just wondering if they'll fit. :shifty:

Jeremi, just brought up the point that if they're for the newer GT500's, then the cam sprocket will interfere....I don't think they are, though, so not entirely sure on that yet.

As for the throttle body.....but it looks so cool! lol. I'm not entirely sure any of this stuff is going on the car yet. Like I said, I can't help buying things that are good prices. I should have no problem selling this stuff for at least what I paid, if needed...

I'd have to disagree. I've been running the Oval Accufab TB on my NA '98 Cobra for about ten years now, and will do so on my LSC (with a Cobra intake) when I find one for the right price.

Admittedly, the only HP increase was over 6K RPM's, but there haven't been any drivability or mileage issues.

Well this is the only experiences I can give with one:

1996 Cobra had one. Car had various off idle stumble issues and would get very lean after 4500rpm. Dyno showed 279 rwhp. Same day, remove the throttle body and redyno about an hour latter. Car made 283 rwhp and was no longer lean plus on the drive home never saw the off idle stuble issue.

2003 Cobra had one. Knew that I already had issues in previous car so wanted to see what would happen. 432 rwhp with it. 455 without. Car also had slight off idle hesitation with it.

2001 Cobra with Eaton conversion. Dont know dyno numbers but car started poorly when cold and would sometimes die when letting off the throttle. Constant lean codes too. Put 03/04 stock t-body on and car became much more driveable and started like it should.


To me thats three strikes, its out. Should note the one in the 01 Cobra was a THR.... think THR was the initials... could be some variant of that.

Come on, you know how to tune a car. :confused:

If it was going lean, then adjust the tune.

Maybe, back then, you didn't have the tools.

I've never had any off-idle issues at all. Luck of the draw perhaps.

FWIW, my '98 made ~305 RWHP on the dyno in 2002.
 
Nope, it's already configured "upside-down" in relation to the stock throttle body. That's why we need to flip ours to get them to work on Cobra intakes.
 
Will the pullies cause slippage with them being chromed out.
 
Accufab makes the best throttle bodies for modular engines... end of story. If they weren't so expensive I would definitely run one on my motor.
 
IDK, that may be a balanced crank pulley, need to see the front.


There is no chrome on the pulleys contact area with the belt. Can clearly be seen in the pics.
 
They're not chromed, they're actually polished aluminum.
I'll try and get some pics of the front and back of the crank pulley up.
 
Got another package today.
"Right on the Mark" reminded me that I wanted to get one of these when I saw his post on the long tube header install. I looked up the part number and promptly checked ebay for it. Lo and behold, there was one on there. The seller claimed that he bought it years ago and just never used it. Then I noticed that he also had the 3/4" DD polished stainless bar stock for sale too. I ended up getting the DD bar stock and the polished steering joint for about the same price as just buying one of them. I thought I was gonna get it for even cheaper, but someone else bid it up the last day. :(
If I hadn't found the bar stock so cheap, I probably wouldn't have bought it, and would have just fabricated some at work. It's easier this way, though. lol.

If anyone needs some of it, let me know, I'm not gonna need all 18 inches of it.

i have what looks like about the same underdrive pully set and its not a piggyback? you remove the harmonic balancer. i have had these on for 2 plus yrs and no issues with them or oil gears .
no slippage for belt either.
