mmmmm,35....Just seems to be a good mix..

I know what ya mean about tickets..I've been pulled over about 10 times for my tint and only got 1 ticket. Moreso cause they wanted to see what else was going on obv...But it was illegal so i just paid the 75 bucks and left the tint on. I do think even 35 is illegal in il though..I'll have to double check. But there is no way i'd ever just tint the rear windows and not the front, no offense to those that do of course.

In Illinois you cannot have any tint on the drivers windows at all. I have 5% on 3 of my trucks and have been pulled over a few times.

I tell them the same thing everytime,.....When the state buys me a car, then they can tell me what to do with the windows. As long as I`m buying them I`ll do what I want with the glass. No Tickets yet!

But I`m an Ol Gray Hair, and it`s usually a lil punk pulling me over.

Pissed off an Stl. cop so bad one night I thought his neck was going to explode, they don`t like it when you pull your DL back at the last second and inform them that you have the right to know why your being pulled over. Probably didn`t help that I was laughing at him as I did it. No Ticket then either. Sometimes it`s good to be an insufferable pr!ck.

Only if you have darker than 30% in the rear. Otherwise you can go 35% all around or 30R/50F. http://www.tintcenter.com/laws/IL/

I'm gonna get mine done this spring, I'll probably go 40% F/R or even 50. I'm not crazy about the thug look, and I want to be able to see out at night.

Both sides of the window.

There wouldn't be any gloss on the outside lol. If you want dark dark, they do make a 2% and buddy, that sh!t is crazy dark. The guy that does all my tinting has an SUV and everything behind the drivers door is all 2% and it don't matter how much sun is out or if it's inside his shop, you can not see through the glass at all.

I think you might need to see it from a different view. Here is a shot of all 35% under a parking deck. It's a lot lighter than you think. I hate it but it's what I have to live with.

Yeah, wow..Thats alot different. That pic would make me want to do 20 on the rear window..

I can't find the video but here is pics of 5% on both sides. Scroll down.

Now I guess I could see it on a boat but not on a car. Seems like there would be no gloss and the purple effect someone in there mentioned is from people using ammonia (normal Windex) window cleaning products on the tint. After time, it will start to turn it purple. They make tint specific window cleaners to stop the purple haze.

I'm serious, the car was not moved and the pics are 1 min apart from each other. Outside in sunlight, this is all 35% but the sun makes our windows a tad darker. That's why they allow us here in AL. a 3% variance when tested.

That is correct, ammonia is what discolors the tint after a long period of time. But most glass cleaners do not use it anymore and states so on the front of the bottle. I personally do not use anything other than Invisible Glass glass cleaner. It is safe and effective with tinted windows, it is a aerosol spray can.
