I know this has been talked about, I cant really find what im looking for. I just saw one OEM HID healight assembly, meaning just the left headlight for like 1300 bucks? Please tell me this is Extremely overpriced. What do these lights usually go for? Are they rare or is there an easier way to get a hold of them

They're tough to find at a reasonable price. If you are not at the right place and the right time, you'll miss them. I've been looking for over a year.

They are very rare and yes oem price is $1600 per light.

overpriced? probably, but you usually get what you pay for, OEM HID's are far superior in pretty much every way.

if you want OEM's at a reasonable price (cheap) you gonna have to keep an ever vigilant eye out every where, including Ebay, CL, and junkyards.

Check TeamFord or Tasca. I know at one time Teamford told me that they could get me a set for about $1200 when I was thinking about getting them. Check with internet dealers as they will give you some what of a better deal of stuff then your local dealer. Everything I've ever ordered for my car was off the internet. Even with shipping I still beat the dealerships prices.

+1 also check places like www.car-part.com.Call them for pics if they show one listed. Last time I checked on that sight they were $500 each for "perfect" headlights.

^ It's really not that hard at all. If you had enough confidence to tackle an angel eye install, a retro-fit isn't much more difficult. Plus you could mount the projector directly to the reflector bowl and use the factory aiming mechanism. Depending on the projector you decided to use.

I'm seriously considering an FX-R quad bi-xenon retrofit with angel eyes. It would cost about $4-500, $700 if you wanted to buy another set to use while doing the install. OEM quality new technology in old model housings really is worth every penny spent and every second spent installing.

lol. you sir, have more confidence than most. including me. i'm leaving my housings alone!

Someone put Lexus? projectors in.. They looked, uhhh, ok.. They were wayy to big for the LS headlight.. But you should tackle the job.. ;)

Yeah I saw that and they looked very out of place. Thats where the proper bezels come into play. I'm communicating with the people at theretrofitsource.com about dimensions for the right projector. So that they can be mounted to the reflector bowl and use e-46 bezels to hide the mounts.

And also IMO I know quad bi-xenon is way overkill but it would look the best on and off. Projector housings obviously eliminate glare and OEM bulbs with quality ballasts will keep the color very factory. Lol I think I might put my other projects on hold and look for some housings. Gen2 or Gen1? I feel like I should just go Gen1 so I don't have to deal with mounting issues on top of the modifications. I don't want to modify the car at all just the headlight themselves.

Well if you do both and get good at it you will have a lot of buyers on here most likely.

Well I think I'll try it on Gen1 first as I can get a set for $100 local. I'll update in my thread in the next couple days when retrofitsource gets back to me. If I did get good at it I would love to sell the workmanship and product however it would be costly and obviously 2 week minimum turn around. Gen1 LSE foglights would be a very easy retro-fit but the halogen style housings definitely serve their purpose better. Color matching would be the best bet for fogs I think.

I'm going to tackle that mod, I dont know about quad projectors but I will be trying a retro fit over the summer, bi-xenon for sure.

If I'm able to follow thru with the retro-fit I will for sure do the quad. I personally never liked the look of a projector next to a halogen housing. Especially if I know the projector is bi-xenon.

The actual work isnt the toughest.

It is finding the right shroud that fits. Time consuming and money buying different shrouds. Perhaps someone could tackle making one via that vacuum procedure. But again that may not be worth the time. Also you run the risk of making the setup look totally retarded on our car.

theretrofitsource.com has an E-46 "extended" shroud. This shroud fits over the FX-R projectors and should have more than enough size to fit if trimmed absolutely perfectly. And I was also thinking that the angel eyes could be placed around the edge of the bezel to further hide the modifications.

I was looking into that too. Maybe sending over a shroud so it wont be just one giant shroud with no details on it.

That is pretty cool! I would ask them to keep the bezels black. Would look better in the factory housings imo

They also do it in black I just saw the chrome ones first and saved that link.

I wanted to do the retrofit, and im sure I can do it. I am a little nervous though. I am on car part all the time and never see anything. I have a connect at my local junk yard so ill ask him to keep his eyes open.

Im mainly worried about the mounting and aiming part of the retrofit. Besides, I dont have 1600 bucks to drop so I suppose i will be doing a retrofit. Sooner or later anyway.
