Passenger power window

Hi all, My passenger window went slower lately than the drivers. Well yesturday it stopped and would not roll up. I removed the motor and it seems to work? I can use the track to lift it? Do I need a motor? Jamie do you have one?

You probably need the nylon bushings inside the motor/transmission - they're a few bucks at your local Napa or Autozone.

this would be my guess. replaced several in several ford products over the years.

If it was going real slow but not making clicking/grinding sounds then the motor has worn out. Just delt with this on Sappers car. No gear problems, motors just got weak. The motors work when pulled off still but not enough grunt to power the window up.

Get a new one off ebay or from Max or from Rockauto. Comes with a new gearset and all. Second gen motors are faster too.

Yes, Sappers 93 has motors from my 97 in it. I think they are side specific.

they are side specific and jeff i have 2 huge priority boxes filled with window motors.

to help preserve the life of your motors, when they start slowing down. spray the channels (where the front and the rear of the glass slide) with silicone spray. put the tube on the can and put a heavy dose down there. the channels get dry and the window doesn't "glide" like it should and smokes the motor

Actually here in Florida, you will get alot of sand and crap on the guide channels and you need to take a rag and clean them off then I use a small brush and apply wheel bearing grease, lasts longer.

your not getting it all the way down unless you pull the panel, the spray will at least run down

That is what I am stating, pulling the panel, panel is off to do the motor anyway. I have lived in Florida all my lkife outside of the military, and sand fly all over here and gets into everything. I have found that you need to wipe the channel down with solvent to get all the sand and crap out, then re-grease with bearing grease, as this is my preference.

yeah im talking spraying it down long before you need to do the motor, worked at ford for 12 years, and thats how we did them all, also dont have big sand issues up here :shifty:
