the 98 is finally on the road!

last saturday night i picked up everything i needed for the front end of my 98. i went to my shop around 9 pm saturday, turned on the radio, lit the place up like times square, made some coffee and went to town. i shut the shop down around 1 am and went home. i just put it on the road yesterday after work, went to the dmv, legalized it and went to leave and the damn battery was dead! so i had my wife come get me and went and got a brand new battery for it. everything is cool now, all i have left is to replace one of the front abs sensors i have to figure out which one is bad. but we have put about 65 miles on it since last night and she is running like a champ, drives so nice, nicer than my 97 and its got 210k on it, my father in laws 97 has 113k and it drives nicer than his too, best high mileage car i ever bought, not only does it drive like new, but it looks like 100k mile mark, this was a great score. here are some pics from last weekend.

Looks great. I do the same thing when I work on something under the car and I see unpainted areas in which black is appropriate and always makes a undercarriage look new.

What is next for it, or is everything else in normal order?
 
lol racing, she wouldnt have a shot in hell. looks the same as it did after i bought it lol. i cut and buffed it, changed the front bumper, cleaned the entire interior, put a ballast on the neon, i got brand new tires going on it and fix the abs sensors in the front. other than that it doesnt need anything now. this is what it looks like except i dont have octastars on it, i tried them to see what they would look like but i put the 10 spokes back on. woops the first picture is my father in laws car i noticed the black interior after i posted the pic lol

I saw it a couple weeks ago, I'd guess it had well under 100k if I didn't know.




On a side note, there probably won't be time, but I'd like to paint my calipers when mine goes under the knife. ...or should I say hammer?
 
she wants it tinted, but no where near as dark as mine. i wont do it dark i will probably do hers the legal limit, around 35% or 30% she does not like driving my car at night and will usually take her dads, so no need for that anymore!
 
well those octastars belong to Billcu now, i dont like octastars i just put them on while i hand polished the 10 spokes on my work bench 1 at a time.

35% all the way around and leave the windshield alone and she would be happy. Legal too.
 
no windshield tint on this car no way, i did that on mine so no one can see me! and no mike, after cleaning yours with Brasso they were worse than whats on the car so no sense in going backwards.
 
we get a lot of double takes when people drive by, a guy about 10 houses down walks his dog by and tells my father in law everytime, god i love those lincolns!! he's got a new ford harley davidson edition diesel 4 door f-250
 
wow those look absolutely beustiful, i don't like spray paint tho, however i wont say anything about the spray paint...lol
 
I'll be pickin up my new 98Blk/Blk with Octos on Sunday, I can't wait! Not sure if I want to keep the octos on it or put the 10spokes on and use the octos on the blue one...lol

Even got a new buffer added to my credit just to buff them both up
 
And to think, that car was gonna go to the auction. That thing has come a long way. Glad I kept it off the auction block:)
 
Yeah I'm gonna try it out.. It's the main things that I like about the gen2s, that always seem to be problem areas.
The only things reported wrong with it are , bad clock spring and blend door, and a dent in the right 1/4 panel. The car has no other known problems, I've driven it and have seen it on a few occasions, I've already done the inner and outter tie rods on it and everything under it is very clean. I'm sure I'll be very happy, however, my wife will be driving the blue one for a while, since the enterior is pretty worn. Shes luggin the kids around, so she's not gonna be allowed to trash a near mint black interior. Since it's lowered I'll probably hve to do a full suspension swap as well as the rims, she hates how low mine sits. I could probably be talked into a trade, even swap for a "comparable?" suv
Anyway this is turning into a thread snatch...sorry Jamie

By the way, I still blame you! :D
