Needs some help on the TC

is this a gen 1? if so swap out the coils and see if your miss changes places. if it does one of the coils is bad. do not buy accel msd or anything else just go with fomoco for the coils.

:edit just noticed the tc thing never mind

injectors? how many miles. i may be wrong but it being so cylinder specific idk if the o2 sensors is the route i would go. be very careful when fooling around with fuel some guy blew himself up about a year ago, always replace the orings and lube them so they don't tear when reinserting the injectors

Things to check:
Fuel filter
Fuel pump
#1 and #6 injectors
Cam angle sensor
Cracked intake plenum (would bet thats what it is)

IAC? Could be causing you to the rev to 2k at start up and also the lean issue misreading. And I would also check vacuum for any leaks.

check your plug wires if its a Gen 1 also your crank sensor when mine went bad most of the time it misfired the same cylinders i never would have believed it

Well the revving to 2k is because of my right foot (easily fixed)

I have a few things I will be trying here soon, if I have an intake leak that sucker is sure hard to find. I have spent allot of time already investigating it.

Fuel filter and new plugs are going in here this week as well as a compression test when doing the plugs. I'll stay away from the injectors for now. I have fixed too many things at once before and created new problems because I wasn’t sure what I messed with was faltering.

Good ideas guys, I’ll keep you up dated. Thanks!

The IAC will be molested as well, I’ll try cleaning it or swapping a used one in to see if there is a difference.

lol, that would be me. I didn't get burned because I was inside the car with the windows up but it did burn up the garage and did destroy the car. Mine had a bogging issue though. Nothing related to any specific cylinders.

What caused that screw up?

That was the image that popped into my head when someone mentioned fuel injectors.... Still cool to say "Yhea, I lived through that!"

What caused that screw up?

Injectors were not "properly" replaced, and there more than likely was no "key on, off, on,off,on" to prime the system while checking each connection point on the rail and at injector seats for leaks...easily avoided with a flashlight prior to cranking

Not poking fun at ya NoLimit, but the question was asked. We're all glad you made it out of that ordeal ok.
I disconnect any ignition system prior to priming the fuel system, this helps to prevent sparks while checking for fuel leaks

Well the Brandon switched fuel injectors 1 & 2 around and it took a few days but I finally got a code back but it wasn’t what I thought, in fact I have never seen this one before and it hasn’t come back yet...

P0430
Efficiency below Threshold, Bank 2

Still running like garbage when cold. We just got craped on again with a bunch of snow so its hard to get motivated to go out and do trouble shooting right now otherwise I would have more for you.

Well ran the CE light, same code as before and a miss fire on cyl 1. So changing the 1&2 fuel injectors did nothing. Sucks because I only get a code when its cold out so I need to figure this out soon.

P0430
P0301

Two things both codes have in common......An oxygen sensor is not reading (functioning) properly.

Faulty oxygen sensor(s)

Faulty catalytic converter(s)

You will likely not notice any drivability problems, although there may be symptoms such as a rough/hard idle when cold.

How was your compression test?
Have you checked fuel pressure?

Good luck Eric.

Yeah we checked the fuel pressures and I can’t remember the numbers but Brandon said they were good. Compression check not yet. I have some people telling to test it and others saying I’m wasting my time so not PSI #'s yet. According to that web site above sounds like comp check is in order tonight.

Is there any way electrically to test the O2's? Blow torch & an Ohms meter? I have no idea, I was just curious. It would be nice to check before I have to blow $200 on a few thermal couples.

Brandon seems to think not but could a cracked intake manifold be the problem since it is cylinder specific? Other than going around the engine with a rubber hose listing for leaks I haven’t found anything that points to one yet. (Engine gets warm manifold cracks tighten up?)

Thank you again for the help guys. Other then the broken bumper cover this is the only problem left with her.....and a good spring cleaning of corse!

the p0430 code is a cat efficiency below threshold, the car is old and the cats arnt working within specs, ford has a TSB to reflash the computer to widen the specs a bit.

the p0301 has nothing to do with the above code. or an o2 etc, since its cylinder specific get a "noid light" set shouldn't be over $20. you unplug the injector and plug the light into the harness and start the car i bet yours doesn't flash. the injector should have constant 12v (with key on) and the ground is cycled by the pcm and im willing to bet the ground wire to injector #1 is broken somewhere.
you said the plugs were new, did you try swapping them to see if you got a bad plug?

I got around to doing the comp check for $hits and giggles and while I was at it I changed coils around again.... here is what I found...

Cyl 1 180psi
Cyl 2 175psi (plug blew out of this one)
Cyl 3 185psi
Cyl 4 185psi
Cyl 5 185psi
Cyl 6 175psi
Cyl 7 180psi
Cyl 8 200psi

No codes yet.
