Well I just got done putting in a new oil filter adapter gasket... And all I got to say is why does it seem like everything on these cars would be easier with a lift?

Because everything on these cars would be easier with a lift.
Yup, pretty much.

BTW, I had a 560 SEC (I think, it was the coupe) and loved that car. Felt like a big shot when driving it. Felt like a broke dick when fixing it.

SEC = too small. SEL much better ;) Odd you would feel broke fixing it, so far its been much, much cheaper than the Mark. New headlights = $200! New grille = $87! Love it!

so how hard was it to change the gasket and do u have any helpful hints on doing so?

It sucked and I had no help but a tip I got from frogman helped make it easier. He recommended to remove the power steering pump and by doing that I had all the room I needed.

It was 15 years ago and on an island with no Benz dealership.

if you take the driverside front tire off you can slip a 12 inch extention right through the k member for the top bolt that gasket is a cake walk, and dont remove the ps pump. i'd rather do that gasket over a first gen IAC.

First Gen IAC is duck soup, all you gotta do is drop the motor, and that only takes 45 minutes....right?

I did pull it but looking back at it I could of done it without pulling it but lets hope I never have to do it again soon. So oil leak solved now its been a day of cleaning the driveway.

Add a swivel & put 2 rounds of electrical tape on it to make it stiffer & you can hit 3 out of the 4 nuts through that hole. That was a bish job until my brother offered up the electric tape gem.

^ Or practice braille mechanics and hold the ratchet with one hand and reach in with the other hand and guide the swivel into place all off of feel.
