Does anyone know if a gen 2 climate control module (1997) will fit in a gen 1 (1994) mark viii ? (ex. Wiring ? Dimensions? )

There are literally holes in the buttons to my 94 and the gen 2 module just looks so much nicer.

I dont have alot of faith in these ebay sellers when they say it fits all years.

Yes it fits, I have a Gen2 climate control in my 93, but I got the unit out of a 96 Conti, there's an issue with the fan, sometimes you have to toggle the speed to make it come on, but that's it

you'll need to pay attention to the vacuum lines on the back

there's been a couple threads on this, search climate control.

The climate control module from a Gen 2 Mark will not work on a Gen 1. If the Part number on the EATC starts with F7 or F8, it wont work.

Gen 2 modules will work in gen 1 cars, just not the other way around. And as sapperfire said the newer conti's work also and will keep the outside temp up on the display all the time.

I have a gen1 hard button that is in good shape if your interested

The climate control for a Gen1 is probably the ugliest thing Lincoln ever put in one of their cars... And they go bad all the time.

Don't pay more than $20 for that Gen2 module. Any salvage yard has them for that much

how many :q:q:q:qing times is this gonna come up, and some of you guys still give wrong info, like sapper, what you have in your car is not a markm VIII climate control, so dont tell someone that a gen 2 climate control works in a gen 1, because it doesnt. i'm not even gonna type it again thats why we have a search function THAT NO ONE SEEMS TO USE BECAUSE ITS EASIER TO HAVE 4000 THREADS THAT ARE ALL THE SAME.

I was waiting for you to get off work and get on here and see this. I can just see the blood vessels in your head throbbing.

seriously you know me good wtf why cant this be one of those thing that never has to come up i guess maybe if someone takes pics of the part numbers and faceplates we can make a sticky so this :q:q:q:q will finally end. 97 and 98 mark VIII climate controls will not, and never will work in any 93,94,95,or 96 mark VIII. nor will 93-96 eatc's work in any 97-98 mark.

if you own a first gen mark VIII, but you want the newest nicest looking climate control which is the 97-98 faceplate, you have to get a 96, the 1996 mark VIII climate controls were changed, they had a new face, but still had the old internals like the 93-95. it needs to have a F-6 part number. this 96 climate control has the same exact face as the 97-98 unit, but different internals, so just because 97-98 eatc's look like a 96, that doesnt mean they work, they dont. or just find a hard button 95 unit, blue case or orange case will work, the orange case eatc's were in tauras's and who cares whatelse i'm done typing!

no you said this....
Yes it fits, I have a Gen2 climate control in my 93,

thats not what it is, its a 96 climate control from a conti. which is the same one that is in a 96 mark VIII, which is gen 1

gen2 face, works in a gen1, wtf-ever, dont get in a pissing contest with me just because someone else cant figure out the search function

i'm not getting in a pissing contest with anyone, i am correcting incorrect information so this guy doesnt go buy a 97-98 climate control, then come back here and blame you for telling him to buy the wrong thing. so suck it.

and dont get mouthy with me either or i'll smash your headlights into 6 million pieces and ship them to you in a box full of dirty diapers.

All I gotta say is EWWWWW!!!:eek:

Imagine my dismay when my (I thought) perfect HVAC control from the 95, slated for my 94, disintegrated in keatonsdad's hands upon removal. The plastic was like tissue paper...
