So, before he went to Gman's house to drop his stuff off, the mailman came to my house on Friday and dropped all of this stuff off....

97 Cobra intake, 46k miles and looks CLEEEAAANNN...

Came with what the seller called a "JLT-style" intake tube. I guess that means this. It looks like it may actually work ok, but I've got something else better on the way...

FR500 steering wheel!! This thing is awesome! I know it's gonna take some modifying, but that's no big deal. I've wanted one ever since I first saw it, but just recently came up with an excuse to get it. The steering wheel cover I had on the stock wheel messed it up. Sounds like the perfect excuse to get this...

KONI adjustable yellow shocks. You might be asking yourself, "Why are there 4 of them?" Cuz the bottom 2 in the picture are going on the front. "Huh? But there's air struts on the front!" That's right, these are going in them. I can't wait!

These last items didn't come in the mail, but I did get them on Friday. Energy Suspension poly shock mount bushings. The guy at Advance Auto was POSITIVE that I had to order 4 to get a set of 4 bushings. I think he messed up and sold them to me for store cost ($11.36 total, should have been like $20). They were cheap enough, and I'll be able to use them eventually, so I kept them. I'll be using them with the Stainless Steel shock mounts that I made a while ago, with the Koni's.

Yeah, he's gonna be really pissed off on Monday. I hope he doesn't start shooting people...

I should have 2 sway bars coming, an oil filter relocation kit, a brand new set of 4-valve Coil-on-plug coils (for the 98), a slightly used set of 4-valve Coil-on-plug coils (for the 97), and a different intake tube.

The worst part is, that's not even everything yet!! :shifty: :D

Take plenty of pics when you do the shock build. I am really interested in doing this.

Can I have that little muffler thing for the IAC hose? :D

I plan on taking lots of pics, but that doesn't always work out. Usually, I get way too engrossed in whatever it is I'm doing and totally forget. I'll try though.

WTF is that little muffler thing for? I've been wondering and keep forgetting to ask anyone.

For an NA car it keeps the intake quieter. For my car it would keep the blower from sucking my IAC open.

I'll consider letting you have it. I've got to get it all put on within my budget first and then we'll see about getting rid of that. I saw a picture recently with a black nylon braided hose in place of that hose and it looked really good. I'd like to do that. I'd post the pic, but I'm on my iPod right now.

And I'll gladly take a pack of the shock mount bushings. I need some for the rear. I have the stainless steel mounts too but my bushings suck.
These bushings will not work for yours unless you drill out the hole on the shock mount to 7/8" (not fun, but I could do it for you if you wanted to send them to me) or if you trim the nipple of the bushing down. I'm not using the original design shock mounts. I'm using the upgraded version I made with the larger hole in the center. They look uncannily similar to the one's DLF is selling in the for sale section. ;)

Bad news man... we are closed monday... yes I am a mailman :P Guess hes gonna be pissed on tuesday... 3 days worth of mail and about 900 parcels just for you.

Jay,

I'm doing the Konis in front too (already have them in the back). I've run into a few issues that need to be addressed and come up with my own solutions, though not yet implemented them. Maybe we can compare notes.

PM me ith the problems you're having and what you're gonna do about them, if you don't mind. Thanks!
I'd love to compare notes. 2 heads are always better than one.

Well, mailman, UPS delivered my sway bars today....so there! lol. :p

1 3/8" is a lot bigger than I thought it's be. Holy crap! These things are monsters!

Yeah they are huge. I almost went that size but wanted some ride compliance.

Just a heads up, you will want to change the oil when you install them cause getting the filter out will be a major PITA with the larger bar. Also make sure you got the lock collars for them.

+150 on that one! I've been thinking about doing the same thing to mine. But I'm planning on using the electronically adjustable shocks from a Thunderbird SuperCoupe and wiring the solenoids up to a switch on the dash for Soft/Firm selection. I did something similar about 15 years ago with a 1987 Mustang that I installed '88 T-Bird Turbo Coupe electronic shocks/struts on. I had a switch on the dash to control the solenoins. It worked great! I can't wait to see how that works for you. Please take lots of pics and do a thread on it if you could. Thanks!!!!:)

PS: Will you be using OEM or aftermarket air spring/shock units for the build? I've seen a thread on MarkVIII.org (I think) that showed how to put Koni shocks in an OEM GEN2 front air spring/shock assembly. The reason I ask is that I have Arnotts on my '96 and OEM's on the '97 LSC. It looks like the OEM's would be easier to modify than the Arnott's.

I'll be using a set of OEM Gen 2 airbags that I got from the junkyard for $25. They both have really good rubber, but the passenger side strut was binding really bad. I compressed it and it stayed that way. Maybe 30 minutes later, it was back to normal extension. I'd say that makes it a perfect candidate for a shock swap.

There is a thread on LOD detailing the swap to Koni's that I'll be following. I'd still like to make one for LVC'ers to have in the future though.

On a side note, the oil filter relocation kit arrived today. It's Maximum Motorsports' Severe Duty Oil Filter Relocation Kit (OC-9). Comes with braided steel hose, AN fittings, a mount and a filter. Looks like really good quality. I'm very happy with it. It's normally $300, but I got it for $200 off one of the Mustang forums. The guy bought it and ended up not using it. Here's a picture....

So, ironically, this is one thing that I've been anticipating the most. I've been waiting almost 2 weeks for them.....One brand new set, and one super-low-mile used set of 4V COP's. They're Motorcraft. I paid $200 shipped for both sets. Obviously, the brand new one's look new, but the used ones look almost just as good. The new ones go in the 98 and the used ones go in the 97.

The obligatory pictures...

You need the internal horn contacts and the shoulder bolts that hold them to the wheel.
