Thats right, we prolly would laugh but we do know/respect this man and know whats done to the car and know the car runs faster. Its been proven. So he made a mistake at the track that time. Have you never messed up at the track? Have you never missed something simple because of added pressure? Try doing that on TV.
If you race a lot then you have a pattern of what you do to get prepped for the race. Now you have multiple people telling ya when to line up, how long to wait, whats done to the car, cameras in your face..... you may forget to press that button.

I have respect for him cause hes proven to be a nice guy and he dont screw around on his car. He does it right the first time and when needing help he follows advice and dont talk chit to people helping him saying hes gonna pimp slap them.

You got a problem with Mike and you will have a problem with most of this board.

I turned off mine yesterday just to see if I could. I could. Its back on now though.
 
Any half decent tuner package will allow you to turn of the torque correction in the tune. The rear brake anti lock traction control can not be turned off. Maybe if you used fords ABS system tools you could re write the eprom in the ABS to negate the traction system, I just remember to shut off the swtich.

mine was supposedly shut off in the tune, but it comes on every time i start the car. I thought that the traction control system was in the abs computer and couldn't be permanently disabled in the tune?
 
I am just saying with the amount invested and the type of modifications that car should be a F in rocket but his best runs are only a little better then mine and I have about one tenth the money invested, hell look a burbank's he did it on a shoe string and would blow his doors off, just sayin:cool:

you do realize that all the money invested does not go just into
making the car go fast right
and it its just a little faster than yours than why not just invest
the "little" bit of money it takes to go that much faster

Oh I agree, its a ludicris ammount of cash he spent but it is one beautiful machine. That and as was pointed out, its way more then go fast stuff.

OTOH, I have about 12% of what he has in his in mine and I dont think my car will even kiss the 12's. Thats good enough to out accelerate 90% of the Marks out there and I can out handle over 95% of them out there.
Now had I spent all that money on just going fast then my car would prolly be as fast as his but not stop, corner or look as nice.

Just gotta work with what we got. :)

Yes and no. In the some software you can make the TC value zero and while the light wont com on I can tell you the TC dont intervine at all.
 
Pinks all out is up here next week end, and all 500 spots went in less than 2 hours when they announced it last winter.
 
The Mark in question is a beautiful machine. I could swear that I had read in a prior thread that the car was detuned a little. Didn`t want to cage it.

That is the biggest difference between a show car and a driver. The amount of money needed to take it that one step farther is astounding. Even starting with a very nice driver your rebuilding/reworking the complete car and it doesn't take long to add up.

So true. Lord knows I've made my share of mistakes. Makes me hope one of mine doesn't end up here.
 
I think everybody is taking this the wrong way, Mikes car is a beautiful machine and very well done, as for all that spent money on other things then going fast? like what ?? he has a custom built stroker with 14psi boost I think a large chunk went into drive line. I am trying to figure out the 14.1, my wife made a stupid move once and launched in second gear she figured it out dropped done and still pulled a 14 flat, trust me you loose more like that then the abs traction being on, traction away.............
 
I don't think it only had to do with the traction control. In this video it really sounds like the motor flattened out for about two seconds. I don't think he had his tune dialed in too good on that pass. Does'nt sound like it accepted the fuel!!! But it is running good in that other video!!!
 
Hes running 17psi. And yes, a bad launch plus shifting into fourth will eat a couple seconds. As soon as he launched they all knew there was an issue. The car pulls timing and spark to correct the wheel spin and then it takes a couple seconds for it to let the timing go back to where it should be. Plus back then he was having some shifting tune issues and at the big end the car went into fourth thus causing an even slower time.

Damn people, it was just a bad run. It happens. Too bad it happened on national TV. Now we have Mark people here saying the car is slow when it was explained why it ran that time. If people here are stuck on "There is something wrong with the car" or "its a slow car" then I could only imagine what the Caddy people or Civic people said when they saw that.

Damn car runs 11's! Now lets think what other 500hp cars run 11's. New Viper, new ZR1, Porsche 911TT, LP640 (more HP). All those cars run similar quarter mile times AND weigh 500-1000 lbs less ..... well except the Lambo. Plus they have more gears, wider tires and several have more displacement.

All in all, its a hella fast car and the poor dude just had a bad run.
 
I know on my car if I launch hard and forget to turn the TC off then the car squats and launches then bogs like and old carbed car with WAY too big of a carb and then I can count off two seconds before the power is returned. Now add 60% more power to that equation and the problem is amplified.
 
Yeah I gotta agree cause I have a 98' LSC and the traction control steps in and makes the car fall flat on it face if I leave it on when I launch it. The car will even surge if I keep my foot in it :eek:

Oh and just last night my friend traded his 96' Mustang GT for a 2000 GSX 750 for some reason :confused:

So I told the new GT owner I have a 96' DOHC engine for you that will swap right in and make it a Cobra clone for you. The damn guy turned me down cause he like 2 valvers cause nobody likes them anymore...but then he was asking me a ton of questions about my Mark so :cool:
 
I think there is another point to mention, and that is Mike and I built our rides for US, and you can't drive around and find one like it. The cars you mentioned above all cost way more than even we have in our rides, so I feel we got twice our monies worth.:L

That was kinda my point. :lol:

I could have sold my car and bought a WS6 for less money and have a faster car but my car is built how I like it and was built only for me. Plus I didnt wanna grow a mullet. :p
 
I could be wrong but I also think Mike has the car built just fast enough to keep from having a roll cage put inside. He wants to have a nice fast Mark but still have the comfort inside without rails all over the place. Maybe he has changed his mind but it seems like I recall him saying this, long ago.

If he wanted it faster, he could have more than exceeded what you have already witnessed in the 2nd video posted. If and when the day comes that "your" Mark III is featured in a magazine, then you might have room to talk sh!t about his. He made a simple mistake because of the pressures of being on TV. He was nervous and felt like he was put on the spot and he simply forgot to turn off the traction control.

Yes, Burbanks is faster but it is what it is.... It's just faster and not by much. I have watched Mike build on this car since 2006 or 07 and it has had more done to it than any other Mark I know of. It's the workmanship, looks and additions that makes his car what it is.
