Got my j-mod done yesterday. Again, I hate, hate, hate, trans fluid! Overall, it was a pretty easy process, the roadblocks I hit, were self inflicted.

Like my HID install, I did the grunt work, and Mike did the parts that required finesse...mainly cleaning the valve body, swapping separator plates, removing the check balls, and actually getting them back in the correct spots.

We all hit some pretty ridiculous snags on our projects, but at the end of the night, it was worth the frustrations. I love the way it hits second, but it isn't too insane.

Mike and I decided to cruise for a few and ran across a turbo Del Sol. After following us for a few, it finally decided to try and run us....he got smoked by both of ours, and mine is slow.

Last night was fun Kyle. After all the pulls we made with our cars, I want my 4.10s back.....BAD.

Can't wait to feel what she does on the way back to Illinois. My 94 has always been quick, but lately.... Even I have been impressed.

That thing definitely has some power, I need more mods!

You don't need 4.10's...your 3.07's are the only reason I can hang until about 50mph.

I ordered from RobertP on TCCOA.com, the whole kit with pre-drilled separator plate, and all upgrade parts for $115. He has them listed in the sale section over there for $105.

If you want to drill your own plate, then you can do it for about half price, I just took the easy route with the kit. If you want to do it on your own, then here is the list:
F75Z-7F284-AA 1-2 Accumulator Upper Spring $3.59
F4AZ-7F247-A 1-2 Accumulator Retainer Cover $4.79
F7AZ-7F251-AA 1-2 Accumulator Piston $13.19
F7AZ-7F284-BA 1-2 Accumulator Lower Spring (optional, used to soften the 1-2 shift) $31.21
F7AZ-7H292-AB 2-3 Accumulator Piston $7.19
F6AZ-7A098-A Tranny Filter $19.32
XW7Z-7D100-AA Separator Plate Gasket $1.61
1L3Z-7C155-AA Separator Plate Gasket $1.55

i havent been over there in years thats where i started with my 94 tbird and then switched over to the lincoln mark viiis

Man I did this with Jamie and drilling the plate was so freaking easy. The hole is already in the separator plate so you are not going to drill in the wrong place. All you are doing is boring out the hole to a bigger size with a bit. It's so freaking easy. My total cost to do it was less than $50...

Screw-rice does your car slam in reverse when switching from park to reverse after doing the J-mod?

I've had 3 t-birds before going to a Mark, so I know where you are coming from!

Rip, mine is firm when it engages, but it doesn't slam into gear. They way people talked, I expected a much more brutal experience for shifts, and gear engagements. I think it is just right, nice and firm, but not over the top.

whats up dan.... school is alomost set in stone i have to go look for an apartment up there.. far as the car slamming in reverse NO but i have 177k on her and i dont want purchase another trans yet

i wanna drive it this time damn it!!!

I am glad SVO and I didnt have time to J-Mod mine when we did the blower. With my tune the trans shifter rediculously hard and now that I see I can command that pressure in the tune then I dont see a reason to drill out the plate. I have my trans shifting exactly how I want it neow with the exception being I wanna lengthen the time for TC lock in third. But if I added a J-mod to that then it would shift like chit again so I am not gonna do it to mine.

I may be wrong, but I believe the Jmod is better in a way. Mine shifted pretty firm with the tune, but it made it a little harder with the Jmod. Also mine at some point had been upgraded to 98 hardware, or it is a VERY late 97 I found out when I pulled the accumulators.

With the Jmod, the harder shift, is a result of the increased fluid being flowed through the valvebody. Getting the same hard shift via tune, just increases line pressure which if cranked too high can over work the pump...

Like I said, I may be wrong, and most likely I am. I am sure someone can come in and tell me if "circle gets the square".

:q:q:q:q ive never complained about a clutch being too stiff, and seeing how i never felt it before ill just add it up to thats how its supposed to be :D

and yup no more purdy long hair, actually need to get it cut for my cousins wedding this weekend. this is why i had long hair too lazy to keep getting it cut lol

I had the same experience with the 1-2..it was firm but not a slam, 2-3 is not much different.

But I was referring to going from Park to Reverse. Did you notice the car slam into R? I'm trying to figure out if it's the Jmod that causes that, or if the tranny I installed is faulty.

DieselDan...so if the R hole was untouched does that mean it should engage normally?

Mine shifts hard into reverse, but not brutal. I think your trans is fine.

Good, I figured that's what it was, but I wanted to make sure. I'm trying to trouble shoot all the issues with my car, so It's good to be able to brush a symptom off. Definite sigh of relief :D
