Agreed. I never wet sanded the paint when I done it. I cleared it first and then let it cure out for a good 5 days.

When you spray the clear, you might see some foggy white spots, don't worry, it will dry clear. If you see an orange peel look, it will come out when you wet sand.

When you wet sand, it's going to look foggy. If you use the medium cut stuff that I showed you or something of the like, the foggy look is going to start shining.

Use a scratch and swirl remover next and then you'll really see the shine coming through and finally when it's all slick, use your favorite wax to finish it off.
 
i do take payments, 1 single one!

jeff, just resand the roof, get it smooth again, go to the store and buy a big ass sheet of plastic wrap enough to cover the whole car, and come to my shop next sunday and i will paint the :q:q:q:qing roof and clear it.
 
Jeff, if you have one of those Dollar General grocery stores around there, check there for plastic because I bought mine there and it was thick and 10X20 and it covered the entire car with one roll. Seems like it was $7 or $8 and I'd jump on that deal.

Well, you only said you weren't "working on another persons car" but you never mentioned "painting another persons car" but at least it's just the top. You can have that knocked out within an hour or so. He can wet sand and buff it later after it cures or bring it back to you for that too. That part of it calls for $$ :)
 
my point was i have so much crap i want to do to my own stuff and can never make the time, my 97 needs to have the new tires put on, i want to clean it and polish it again, i need to replace the brake rotors because of someones backyard ghetto half ass drill job for the lugs, i need to drop a fuel pump in my 93, put in the new headlight housings and hids in it, detail it, i want to do my damn stereo in my 97 that i have been putting off for 2 months!!!!! jamie needs time for jamie, :q:q:q:q everyone elses bull:q:q:q:q problems lmao.
 
How about while you do mine I will wash and polish yours? At least I can take one thing off your list.
 
no offense but no thanks, nobody does anything on my stuff even washing! specially after dropping 500 on a paint correction, no one but me and my detailer washes my car!!! sounds stupid, but until anyone on here spends that much to have a car's paint corrected, you wont understand.
 
His washing method has a "no touch policy", even down to blow drying it. I don't blame him though. $500 buff job, I think I would listen to the man that done it when he suggests how to wash a black car that has been buffed to look 3 ft. deep.

Jamie, my stereo is still setting in my trunk lol. I have everything I need for the install but for some reason, I'm just not into it. I need speaker wire for the doors and rears but that's it.

i'm not into it either! all i need is a power wire and ground for the amp, i have everything else. my bedroom closet looks like an audio store! one of these days i suppose. i want a whole weekend free, and no cell phone on, door of the shop closed and locked so no one can bug me!

That trunk lid would be easy to do. I would take the light bar out and only do the top section above where the light goes and up on top. The hood could be done on that one spot if you could blend. I done my passenger door on a spot that big and it blended in after some careful wet sanding to get the paint & clear I sprayed and the original clear to blend without showing a line.

I also done my rear bumper cover completely. It turned out slick too. Even after the fire, it's still slick except where I used a truck to push it in the back yard. Below is the link where I did that. One of the pics you can see orange peel but after wet sanding and buffing, that all came out like new.

jeff if you want me to do the hood, roof, and trunk its gonna cost you $200 bucks, thats including me getting more black base, i have enough clear, i was gonna shoot the roof for nothing but i cant do all that for nothing.
