I need the little chrome button that goes on the tip of the turn signal stalk on a GEN2 Mark. My '97 LSC seems to be missing that little button and my windshield washers won't work without it. I've looked for one on ebay and called several salvage yards. They appear to be rare. And I just can't see spending a hundred bucks for a complete stalk assembly when all I need is the little chrome button. Anybody got one they'd be willing to part with? Or if not, will another part from another car work? Or is there a way to rig something up to work? Thanks.

the button wont come out without breaking, you'll have to switch the whole multifunction switch, its not hard, and they are reasonable too, i have one, but the car isnt getting touched yet, i have no time to start pulling it apart yet.

What would you be willing to pay for the whole MFS? I've got like 4 of them in my garage, but they're all attached to steering columns. I'd have to pull it apart for you.

Let me know.

Aaaarrrgghhh! I sure don't want to have to spend over $100 bucks just because I need that stinkin' button. I think I can live with it. My washers just don't work and that is not a big deal. Unless I can find one for $10 bucks or so (what I would consider a "junk yard" price for a turn signal stalk), I'll deal with it. Thanks for the help guys.

Cheapest one I could find on Ebay was $75 bucks. The most expensive was $266 with $15.34 shipping. FOR A FRAKKIN' TURN SIGNAL STALK!!!!! Good grief. I'll just deal.

not true...i popped the old button out of a mfs i bought and popped it back into the one that was in my car.. it was acouple years ago but i beleive i used a thin flathead..

alot easier them pulling the wheel..i think i have a thread on it.

Man. All I need is that little button. I don't need the whole MFS. It would be simply stupid for me to spend some God awful amount of money on something I don't need just so I can get a little button off of it. I need to do some research, but is there another Lincoln, like a Connie or a Town car that uses the same turn signal stalk as the Mk VIII? If so, maybe I can get one from a junk yard cheap. Again, thanks for all the help.

If you can find that thread, many would read it....:)

I have three MFS, two with buttons, one without.

The one without is on my car. Another is on the steering column on the parts car. I bought one for 40 bucks, that is sitting.

And I can't get any of the damn steering wheels to come off the columns to switch the MFS out......

But there have been good suggestions as to how to do it, I'm just a little pressed for time nowadays with the yard work. :)

I noticed that the 2000-2005 LS stalk looks a LOT like our 97-98 stalks. I wonder if they are easier to find and can they be transplanted? Or maybe their buttons would work?

They are similar, but not quite the same. The buttons may work, though.

I would love to see the wiring on the LS stalk compared to the VIII stalk. They look so danged close.

for some reason i cant get into my past threads...(if you wanna look i believe it was early 07)..anywho, the only reason i just replaced the button is cuase the wheel wouldnt come off. had my mech. buddy come over and it stripped out his puller and the steering wheel bolts that it goes into..god that was a pita. so i said fu ck it and took the risk w/ replaceing the button and it worked, took maybe 2 minutes and it worked..(just be gentle.). its been fine for years.

I hate that windshield washer button...it's loose and sometimes when you bump it lightly it turns on the wipers and it's embarrassing when your turning sometimes too

Lmfao!

I have two, both cost more then ten bucks, and neither has pulled either wheel.

But thanks for the advice, I would have never thought of using a wheel puller....

Just outta curiosity, could somebody pop one of those buttons off the end of a GEN2 turn signal stalk, take a few pictures of it and post them here? I would appreciate it. If I knew what the button looked like, I may be able to find/fabricate something that would work. I can stick a car key into the lever and make the washer work, but that's irritating. And I just can't justify spending $100+ bucks for a turn signal stalk just because I need that little button. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

How lucky do you feel about being able to pull a wheel off a column to get a good switch? :D

I superglued a small light duty spring that was almost the same diameter as the inside of the button into the back of the button. I stretched out the end of the spring inside the button so it fit in there tightly and this caused the spring to fit offset to one side. When I pushed the button into the stalk, the spring caught on something inside the stalk and it stays in place. Some of the chrome peeled off so I took it all off and painted the button black.
