well i'm getting horrible gas milage. Have been the last 1.5 summers...The only changes have been my 19" wheels. I do however use 89 octane. I usually only take short trips if that matters. The 02's are within range and i no longer have any cel's since i replaced the bad coil. WTF?

Define "short trip". My office is close enough to my house to be able to walk it in 22 minutes and bike it in about 8-9. When I drive there the motor barely gets out of the cold duty cycle and my heater doesn't even warm up, and during that time I get about 12mpg, which is contrasted heavily to my 26+ on the highway. It is possible you just aren't driving far enough?

those 19's weigh too much. with no cel everything is probably functioning normally. maybe a partially clogged cat. check to see if anything is coming out of the exhaust.

short trip meaning less then 5 miles. but it always gets up to operating temp..

upon startup there is a faint smell of gas. but i did cut off my mufflers..(being welded back on this week)

I would check your third cat, it might be on its way out. Also check your fuel pressure, pour pressure can result in bad flow and fuel puddling that could cause the gas smell.

I can't believe no one said use good gas to start with!!!!! If you can't run premium [91] in the car you don't deserve it. Put in good gas I say and drive it for a week. Run that bad :q:q:q:q out of her and let the cats hit their actual operating temp so there is no unspent fuel hitting them. Quickest way to fry a cat by the way. Let the car think where it should not always backing off it's timing to run right. It knows you don't love it and is sad.

10mpg might be plausible if all you do is run to the corner store and back and/or driving almost exclusively on residential (25mph) streets with a lot of stop signs... But really 10mpg? Hell I got better than that towing 5200lbs with my Mark...

91+ AKI rating doesn't do a damn thing for the car until you're at WOT.

So it won't cause a higher compression engine to ping under load at low rpm's?

I know what I am doing is right. Abuse the car if you want but don't tell others to also.

I am only averaging 17.8mpg but I am usually at 85 on the highway and 70-100 on the back twisty roads and accelerate hard out of the corners when I back down to 50 and nail it back up to 90ish.
With the suspension and gears its just too dam much fun. When it was closer to stock I got 22mpg average just cause I wasnt in it all the time. I am kinda dreading my new blower install.

Installing blower was some way of mfgr getting better gas milage in cars. Some of the blown mark claim on 22 - 25 mpg. Compression check. That is a good thing to do. Any one mention if he has done any tune up

Its been covered more then once.
I think he needs someone close to him to give him a hand.

short trip, many stop signs. you gotta think every time you are not moving and that engine is running your millage is dropping, then unless you idle off the line you will kill the millage more. hop on the interstate some night and cruise and enjoy your car your millage will come up. oh and run premium, come on you should be able to get 93 octane over there (i can) take advantage of that

Does any one know any one that drive their car short distance and get those kind of mpg. I could get those in my 90 mustang coupe.

I only run 93. If I pull in a station and it says 91 on the super then I just drive off to another station. I almost always fill up at Chevron though and they are all 93 around here.

The only place I have found good gas is in Gardner KS. The shell station. NO METHANOL. Check your local laws cause up here it can be 10% and they don't have to tell you. The most I can find is 91.:(
