10mpg problem

car only needs premium 91 is fine more octane does not equal more horse power or better gas mileage it just means it takes more to burn

So it won't cause a higher compression engine to ping under load at low rpm's?

Not on any stock Mark or Northstar Cadillac for that matter. Now I'm at high altitude, but I've done datalogging running 85 octane that doesn't show any KS activity or spark retard until WOT or very close to it. If it makes you feel more secure that you're never going to give those knock sensors a workout, then by all means go for it...

Your car maybe but mine is tuned for 93 octane. Gotta pay to play. :)

Does any one know any one that drive their car short distance and get those kind of mpg. I could get those in my 90 mustang coupe.

Nope....I would think if was just from short trips he would have figured that out in a year and a half.

NO METHANOL. Check your local laws cause up here it can be 10% and they don't have to tell you. The most I can find is 91.:(

You mean.. ETHANOL.. or E10

not METHanol, that's a whole different animal

I've had a significant drop in gas mileage since the cats were gutted. So I somewhat feel your pain....although I'm getting 15mpg city with 93 octane

I only use 93 gas and only from name brand gas stations (usually the sunoco) up the street. I get 18mpg with a heavy foot.

the WORST I can FORCE my car to get is 19..driving 11 miles to and from work with no hiway miles at all.

but I run 93 octane with a tune that uses ALL of the 93 octanes, I dont leave ANY octanes on the table
