im going to be fixing my transmission next week and im also doing the J-Mod. i want to get a deeper trans pan so does anyone know where i can get a quality one thats the cheapest?

What exactly is a UHAUL pan? Am I gettin boned here? Or are you for real?

Alternatively, there's the new style standard pan with the added 'pocket' for around $25 or so. (not as good as U-haul pan, but probably cheaper)

You'll also want the new type filter with the longer pick up. (they are around $20)

Not sure if there are specific filters with different pick up lengths for different pans, so I'd check with Max and find out.

I'm for real... Uhaul had Ford spec them a pan for all their cargo vans and trucks with the 4r70w that had a drain plug...

Ok, cool - just the two. Wasn't sure if there may be an extra long one for other applications.

On the 98 trans that I swapped electrical internals out with to put into the 94 looked like this when I pulled the pan off. No internals had been swapped in this pic.

And the pan before I had cleaned it out.

yeah i already bought the filter which is the same as the stock. will that work even though i want a deeper pan? and who is max? ive only been on this forum for about 2 months so im still learning names.

driller, if i get the "UHaul" one which is the first picture in your reply can i use the stock type filter?

You could but it would defeat the purpose. You want the extended pickup to take advantage of the sump.

do you have any links to who makes this filter or where i can read up on it to buy it? i just bought the stock one from SCP but id rather get the one your talking about to take advantage of the sump like your saying.

ok i understand now. i wasnt comprehending that my 1994 was different then a 1996-1998 trans filter. ill just go to napa tomorrow and get the stock one for a 1996-1998 for the UHaul pan. im also going to call a buddy of mine and see if he can get me the pan. thanks for the help guys.

You might want to consider the LPW pan.

It's a little less expensive, and I'm quite pleased with mine.
