So I have never rented from Hertz before. I am a Ford guy so I always used Budget but since there are none near by I tried Enterprise.... and wont ever again.
After telling the Hertz agent about the Enterprise crap and getting set up for his rental I also mentioned that Enterprise was considerably cheaper. Of course it was gonna be a Chevy Aveo and Hertz it would be a Cobalt (is that better? ) but the guy said he will give me the house deal. For $10 more a day then what Enterprise was gonna charge me for an Aveo he will give me an Impalla LT and also give me all the insurance coverages so that even if its my fault I am covered and have zero deductable.
Me being a fat ass would have upped to the full size car anyway but that was cool of him. So now I have this 2200 mile old Impalla thats loaded. Nice car and all but over all I dont like it. Visibility is crap, the mirrors are a joke, the seat is marginal at best and the damn doors are too high so you cant rest your arm on them. Also the lower opening comes up really high so you have to lift your foot kinda high to get out.
I miss my Mark. :(

Impala is in bad need of a redesign. The Malibu is night and day different and much more modern. You should have seen if you could have found a new SHO to rent somewhere:D

my stepmom has one , a 07 i think. i hate the climate control and stereo looks...alot of gm's have the same ones though. other than that, its got nice room, very quite inside, and ok power.

Im not gonna take it off road but I am gonna give it a workout on the way home. Its not fast at all but it did jump out of the driveway much better then I expected. I am more curious about mileage.
Now I know I am getting old. :( Hell when I used to rent cars the first thing I did was pop open the hood... then set the stereo. Now the first thing I did was find the lumbar support and bitch about the stupid climate controlls.

The free sat radio is nice, never had that before. Its a shame that it cant get reception if anything blocks the antenna though. Has the Bose stereo and it has decient sound quality, nothing amazing though.

I just really hate how high the doors, trunk and door sills are. Maybe it makes the car stronger in a crash but damn its uncomfertable.

my buddy pete used to rent cars for the weekend and throw nitrous in them for the hell of it. he did it to a monte carlo i remember about 8 years ago and when he brought it back the motor sounded like it had 10 minutes left on it. what a dick lol!!

I have yet to be truley at fault in an accident. :(

Im a S.T.S. driver (Special Transportation Service) down here in Miami and I drive an 06 Impala LT and let me tell ya for a 3500 V6 they are pretty quick.

i rent a car about 1ce every other week, first thing i do is find the biggest pothole around, then the biggest mudhole,, and on my way to return, use all the windsheild wiper fluid

Guess I'm in the minority when it comes to rentals - I treat those vehicles with respect because they're not mine.

That Chevy Impala is a HORRIBLE looking car! Mind, I'm sure it drives a lot better than the Aveo we had not so long back. (was so small yet didn't get particularly good MPG - was noisy too)

id call the impala nice.............

last year i drove my parents up the San Jose in a Caliber...................

:shifty:

After driving it home it wasnt so bad. Rides ok and has room. Brakes are pretty damn strong. It was a big difference passing someone at 70 mph though. Car accelerated just fine but damn the Mark could really punish one of these things. The car is also very plain inside.

I'd be curious to know how the 5.3 V8 version compares in that respect - sounds like quite a sleeper! (just a shame it's driven by the wrong wheels)

I believe the 5.3 runs mid to low 14's so a slightly modded Mark VIII will hang with it.

93 b on b, they are nobodies cars, if it was a friend who was letting me borrow their car, different story, otherwise pedal to the metal

the high rise door panels seem to be the style lately. New mustangs as well, makes every one look like midgets. If i cant have my arm out the window on a nice day, the car was built wrong.

Its amazing to think the Impalas of the 90's share a name with these FWD pos's.

Oh, I'm not that bothered, really. Respect aside, I just wouldn't want to inconvenience / possibly endanger whoever has to use the car after me.
