I finally lowered my Mark.... AND LOVE IT!!!

Well like the title says shes finally sittin a bit lower than she was. I think this thing looks awesome at this height, ride is decent but pretty stiff as would be regaurdless of how it was done. I relocated the ball mounts for the sensors and it is sittin level and lookin good.
Let me know what you think, I know I need tint and wheels but thats going to have to wait until after the holidays...all of them.
Im wondering if the Ray switch I've been wanting is even worth it now, will it go much lower?

had I read a bit before I started it would have taken about 30 40mns from pulling tools out to putting them back, but I do things the hard way so it took about 5 hours all together. And you cant beat the price, +2 inch or so drop for FREE!!!!
There are some real good instructions on this site I ran across not too long ago. Im sure some one could locate it and post a link, follow them and you'll be able to do it. Be sure to flip the switch in the trunk off, you dont even have to remove the front tires, just turn outward on the side your working on and there is only one sensor on the rear on the drivers side rear control arm.
 
thats REAL low. both of my marks are sensor lowered, but after having a module 8 on my first mark, I decided to get the ride height right where I wanted it and leave it alone. Its great.
 
Others might disagree but the front really does need to come up at least a 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch. It looks good like that but at the same time, the front end parts are going to be screaming at you for replacement if it hits many bumpy streets. By no means am I knocking it because I like them low too. My rear is as low as yours now but my front is also showing the same amount of gap as the rear, maybe a hair less when off (parking height)
 
I had planned on lifting the front just a bit but I used a braket and relocated the ball mount for the bottom of the sensor, so I need to measure it again and make another braket. How much do you think I need to move the sensors to avoid going higher than the rear?

It doesn't take much movement of the sensor to make a height adjustment. It needs to be done on level ground and your measurement will need to be from the bottom of the rim to the bottom of the fender. Just try to get both sides the same or within an 1/8th and you should be fine. I would hate to see you on here in about a month having to replace this and that because that stuff ain't cheap and if it is, most of it ain't easy to fix yourself.

Again, the height you have it at does look good. A slight raise will give a little bit of a smoother ride. It's the HWY that gets me when I go across small bridges with the humps that are unseen. After the 3rd one, the bounce is on lol. Luckily there aren't many on the HWY that I normally go down if I go to another city. I seriously come up off the seat at 75 to 80 but 60 to maybe 70, it's ok.
 
You also may want to think about getting an alignment once you get it set where you're gonna keep it....looks good though.

I would just modify the bracket, not make a new one. Drill a new hole on the part where it mounts to the body. This was always easier for me to do it that was as opposed to moving the ball part.
 
I always thought about lowering mine... but.. where I live... that could get dangerous while driving!! lol
 
Wet roads with a stiff rear suspension and taking off ramps that have curves in them, going 70 is scary. It only took once for me to learn. It was my first time going around one since lowering it and usually it has good grip wet or dry but when the rear starts it's bouncing thing, it tends to bring the back tires up enough to lose grip and then all you see is a concrete wall and the car going sideways. I didn't go all the way sideways but it was enough for me. I just let off and rode it out until it straightened up. Never even went off the road but if I had kept my foot on the gas and not noticed the slight feeling of the rear sliding, my car would have been gone for good.
 
You were right nolimit this thing rides like a pogo stick at 70-80 mph. I got on the highway today and hit a couple of the overpass' and boy did it bounce. Looks like I'll be lifting it back up about an inch (later) and see what happens.
 
it's amazing the difference being at that height vs being half an inch higher makes

if you put it to where you can fit a pencil flat across the top of the tire and not hit the fender it's not so bad

As long as I stay off the HWY, which I don't have to get on often, I'm ok but it's unreal sometimes how bouncy that thing is. Only on the bridges that have the metal things going across that normally would be smooth, aren't anymore. I was going to raise mine back up some but haven't messed with it yet.
 
looks good lift the front a hair, definitely align it because lowering it changes your camber/caster and even toe (just a little but enough to eat tires) and the rays switch will really slam that thing

cant find any pics with my 16's i know i have them somewhere but heres with the 18 but as you can see it gets lowwww (this was also with a partially plugged vent solenoid so it gets even lower now. this is sensor lowered, just looks tall cuz i got the camera down close to the ground

I Love your mark Chicken, along with most I see on here. I figured Id keep it this low and skip on the Ray switch but now I think i will raise it up about an inch maybe a bit less and get a Ray switch to slam it when parked. May even pick up a set of T-bird shocks for the read to get that extra inch outta the Ray switch. Does anyone have an extra Ray switch laying around? It sounds like I'd have to wait a long while to get a group buy on then since he wont make them until many people pay first.

thank you, im just glad i can say they are MY wheels now!

yes finding a rays switch may be an issue unless some one wants to get rid of one (NOT me) id watch the for sale section

chicken, I'm glad those are your wheels now too. Now I have another favorite Gen II on here. I really don't care for the Gen II but yours and a few others here have made them stand out in the crowd.

are the tbird shocks shorter? my car will sit on the bump stops with no problem
 
I have read that they have a longer throw and that it would allow the car to drop further before bottuming out the rear shock.
The bump stops may need to be removed to make this worth it and if so I would not do it or usggest it, they are there for a reason.
