front drops entirely but no leaks

pretty sure you win, however, I spray and spray but no bubbles, the sound is definitely most intense right on the top

While the car is running and has pumped up all the way and the air pump has shut off, turn the air ride switch off and then turn the car off. Your bag solenoids should be turned off completely after you do this. Shut the door and see what happens. The car should not vent at all. There is also a relay for those bag solenoids too but I'm still pretty much stuck on the idea of it being the vent solenoid on the pump itself.

Sorry, I'm a little low on time tonight, so i couldn't readl all the posts. Have you ever replaced the front air struts on this car?

as far as I know they have never been changed, I've determined (by listening through a tube) that it's the drivers side that is leaking from this general area, but no bubbles!

top of the strut leak... you nailed it.
you need an air bag..

good job tracking down the leak!

I always imagined my first leak being from the bags themselves. How reliable are aftermarket bags? I always thought that LSCs had firmer shocks?

Usually it is the bag part that leaks. Are these OEM for sure? Arnotts usually leak from the top, about a month out of warranty. Although the rear bags they make are fine. And now that I think of it, they may have improved the upper seal.

Anyway. OEM is best. Its what I bought and no problems yet. I wonder if driving the cars lowered impacts the strut in some way that the upper seal goes bad?

I own a mark vii that has same issue being discussed here.
Car drops up front sometimes after a few hours being parked.
Sometimes not at all...
sometimes after a day or so.
sometimes it goes 3 days and it wont drop at all.

I feel like when its colder-it drops.
I cant be sure though because seasons are changing and temp is up and down in NYC area.
I think that if indeed temp was affecting weather or not it drops would do to the cold air temp. affecting a leak in the bag itself-cooler temp mite cause the rip to open more-does that make any sense.

Im new.
Im lost.

on 2nd gens', or i should say the plastic struts, more of them leak from the top seal than the bag, 1st gens usually leak from the bag, but 2nd gen's are notorious for split top bushings. spray the top again and grab the fender and yank up and down i bet you'll see bubbles then. if you want to see for sure, take the strut off the car and look at that rubber bushing under the top washer, you'll see the split, they split just like the factory rubber rear shock bushings do.

this is the drivers side, im sure the passengers side looks similar, I put a bag in from my parts car, it still leaks, just slower. I'll do it properly when my boss decides to pay me :(

I have two new Arnotts still on the parts car but they have been setting slammed for almost a month. Just thought I'd throw that in there. Out of the box they're only good for a year or two anyway so that's why they aren't on mine. That was a good hunt down on the leak though. I'm glad I wasn't taken up on the PayPal bet lol. Just get one at a time from Eddie (OEM) and the problem should never come about again.

Sweet. Good buy. I wonder how many Ford has left of those? Cant be many.
