Since I bought my 93 back in June I've had this issue! I start my car, turn on my A/C controls (which I alerady replaced for newer ones) & even though the A/C controls are on, the A/C wont blow air unti about 10 seconds later. Remember I'm in Miami where it's 98 degrees at 12 noon. In other words I hit "MAX A/C" ........wait ........ wait........ wait........ wait........ wait........ wait........ wait........ wait........ Ahhhh yessss, finally air!!! I know it's not the A/C control unit since I swaped it & it does the same thing with this newer one. What could it be?

mine does that too but it does not kick in for like 2 minutes. and it just doesnt blow cold air in general lol( needs to be recharged)

Mine has about a 7 to 10 sec wait also. I think it was made that way so that you weren't blasted with hot air. When mine starts blowing, it's a lot cooler than the car if it has been outside.

With heat I know that can be normal. There is a sensor on the back of the passenger head that monitors engine coolant temps.

But for AC my fan ramps up from off to full speed in just a few seconds. No delay that I know of, even on the hottest days. But then again my fan is usually manually set.

Interesting... maybe this is a regular proceedure. I'd love more feedback to confirm! Thanks guys.

yes, it's normal operation...

The fan wont start blowing until the system "has a chance" to deliver cool air.
They did't want it blasting grandma and granpda in the face with a blast of hot air.

the better your system works in general the shorter this delay is..
if you need a charge it can delay delivery of cool air for quite some time as described above

+1

i have been in 4 different marks in summer and winter, they all do this,as do many cars with auto climate control

I never gave much thought to it, but mine does it also lol...

Thats kinda cool tho, cuz it doesn't blow out hot air!

Yup, mine takes about 5 seconds except for real hot days where it takes 7-10 seconds. On cold days after a cold start it will take a couple minutes before the fan ramps up. I always thoughtthats was a subtle but nice touch.

Heres one, does anyone elses dash lights not turn on with the manual headlight switch unless its dark enough for the auto lights to be on? (like throw a towel over the sensor and the dash lights go on if you have the headlights manualy turned on)

mine is pretty much instant. takes a few seconds if i let the computer do it.

If you turn the ac on, then move the knob a click or two, then crank it back up again, it blasts air almost instantly.

yes
I usually notice it when the auto headlight is on for when the
windshield wipers are on

yes (only a gen 2 thing as far as i know) cuz i wired my fog lights in (using the illumination signal for my radio) so my fogs now only come on when its dark enough, kinda cool but kinda annoying all in the same
