A few oil related questions.

Hahaha... You're making sense now. Ok.

Now, you need to slowly add oil to the engine until it's up to the full mark on the dipstick. Run engine, check that the red oil light goes off almost immediately, check for leaks, turn off, wait a few mins and check the level on the stick again. Add oil as necessary.

okay thanks guys, but can you believe 8 litres of oil... like how did it even flow makes no sense to me at all, but can i ever see and feel the difference! oil changes ftw.

You might want to make sure you have the right dip stick in that car. If the previous owner barely had the filter on and only had the pan bolt hand tightened, he may have also put a Mazda Protege dip stick in too.

i dont mean on the car lol i mean like something the oil drains into from the drain plug!

Oh! Now that makes sense!

Holy crap! That much oil would cause performance issues. I would highly reccomend to yank your plugs and I bet they need to be cleaned. Prolly need a new PCV valve too and check your intake tube cause where it hooks to the breather may have some oil in it too. That much oil means it really pooled in the heads, did you get smoke on start up?

And +1 on not nailing it when cold. These aluminum engines have a happy running temperature range and under 120 is not happy. It hasnt expanded to its tolerences yet and you could spin bearings or hurt piston rings. I wait till my temp gauge gets to the 1/4 mark before hitting it.

Alright ill bring it to my school mechanics shop and do a diagnostic on everything! thanks again guys and yeah i know it was horrible but it was the first oil change on the car since ive owned it and i just wanted to see the difference :p and i dont recall and smoke but the exhaust pours puddles like PUDDLES of water like when you step in it, it seeps into your shoes! I am just gonna go with the LMS exhaust soon enough anyways :D
