the damage really isnt bad. driver side mirror broke and some dmg to the rear quater panel. i was doin about 30 since i had just come through a light from a dead stop and it had been raining. the back end kicked out crazy quick( i've slid her down the road before ;P) and thought i was gonna be good but she just didnt seem to want to respond and slid into a ditch. i had flash backs to high school in my dads 5 series may it rest in piece. totally felt like a douche too. ;(

edit: truck was opened to disconnect the batt.

So you were driving like a D bag on rain slicked roads?

pics of tire marks if any :D

na i didnt think so i was taking it easy(or so i thought) just never had the back kick out so fast before, and i have tried before and had it come back just fine even on wet roads. there werent any marks on the road at all. worst part was I was on my way to pick up my son(why i dont drive like a d bag much) and had to call the ex to pick me up to take me to the mechanic ;( /humbled

just a bad day, and i'm that guy ppl know that has crappy luck behind the wheel. 4 deer(3 with the same car), had someone blow a stop sign in front of me while my car was in the shop for my first deer and nailed the guy in the back end, i was in my mothers minivan at the time, and i rolled my fathers 5 series in high school, which was totally just in experience in winter driving conditions.

I just don't see how you can catch the edge of a ditch from fish tailing in normal driving. Even if it was slick. You had to have had your foot in it going around the corner.

Do you have AdvanceTrac?

yea but it was turned off. realize that was a big part of the prob(i drive with it off alot) i didnt catch the edge of the ditch i just slid into it. had i been goin faster i prolly would have rolled it over all the way or worse onto the roof.

I wonder what it is like flipping a car onto its side. Sounds exciting. And I always drive with AdvanceTrac on and whenever I feel like driving like a D bag I still can power slide and stuff around corners, Then it straightens it out for me, lol.

And about catching the edge; from the pic it looks like the ground is pretty level, I guess it is the angle of the pic. I assumed you were sliding sideways toward the ditch and once you hit the grass/off-road the wheels caught and flipped you over.

Ouch! Well, thanks for creating an account here to tell us about it :)

Hope you get 'er back on the road soon!

it didnt really flip so much as just kinda roll on to its side. like i said the speed i was goin kept it from going over farther, thats why there isnt much damage.

as far as rolling a car........without sounding like a nut it is one of the biggest rushes i have ever had. adrenaline is one crazy drug to be on. but after soo many unfortunate incidences its like any other drug and doesnt effect me as much as it use to. i just curse alot while its happening :)

been visiting here for quite some time and learning what i cant and cant do to her and have some plans(i had just got new badges today for the grill and rear surround, its a start for now) and many questions just had more important things to worry about before dumpin money into her

Did you think of just calling some buddies and having them come help you toss it back on its feet? Haha

Also did you climb out through the passenger side window and think.... "wtf did I do that for"

everyone was at work and someone saw it happened and called 911. she was surprised when she came over to the car and was asking if i was ok and i popped my head out the pass window and said 'ya just tryin to fing my phone!'

but yea i did kinda scratch my head and think wtf just happened.

Glad your okay, any other damage to the car? Rolling it on its side would seem to dent that whole side wouldn't it?

na like i said before it kinda just slid in, there didnt appear to be any dents in the doors or anything. gonna stop by the body shop tomorrow or monday after work and take a look at it. found out the hard way why C&D said the ls was one of the 10 safest cars when they came out :) hope to never have to push it past this point either.

Good that your ok. Might wanna keep that Advancetrac on in the future.

Back in high school I slid my moms mark over two driveways and through 3 yards, was having sideways fun and lost control. Thats why I only do that stuff in a controlled area now.

That sucks! I did that to my old '87 Ford Ranger when I was 16. We tipped it back over and I drove it home. An alignment was all I needed (well and some body work). I've been a Ford man ever since.
