Is there really any logical reason why anyone who has traction control/advance trac would purposely turn it off while normal driving??? Throw in the "had been raining" part and i'm calling complete dumb ass on that one.
Normal driving for some means faster acceleration from stops...and even with brand new Cooper tires they still slip some before they catch, so if traction control is on it bogs down the car (sometimes). If you use SST it's pretty easy to spin the tires.
