Bags Won't Come Up. Car's Barely Drivable! Help!!!

actually when your driving down the road, at highway lowered height..your compressor probably IS running, you just dont realize it.

That is what kills the compressor, as it overworks itself to keep the leaking bag/s inflated.

The compressor wasn't designed to run like that and it WILL DIE.
 
bags for sure. Call Edie at AmericanAirSuspension I bought my front bags from him for my red Mark and they were perfect. The 3 b's Bueno Bonito y Barato.
 
Rear bags are easy no special tools required. Once you do your first one you will have it down and it takes no time at all.

oh and you wont need air tools, I do it with just a few jacks, wrenches and LVC ;)
 
you should be able to hear the leak if its leaking that bad, id pull one of the rear lines out of a bag then run the compressor and see if air comes out

it could also be the bag solenoids. the markviii system has 5 solenoids one at each bag and one at the compressor. the one on the comp is the vent valve and the ones in the bags just keep the air in /allow it to exit when needed. so if there is a wiring issue it wont open the solenoids at the bags allowing it to fill
 
SVT- You will have no problems with anything that's been suggested here. A few suggestions:
Remove the intake snorkel permanently (under the inner fender). It will make access to the compressor easier. If you have extra hands available removing the bumper cover will allow you great access to the compressor and the electrical plug for it as it sits forward of the unit (tough on short arms). This also would be helpful in installing the Spider Valve as well.
If you are considering putting on a Tranny Cooler (always a good idea) it would be a great time for that while you have the cover off
 
From what I am reading here the vent valve on the compressor is stuck open, and thus the air just pumps out before it gets to the bags. Of course this was caused by leaking bags. But you're primary problems seems to be tied to the compressor. SO don't be surprised after you replace all the bags, you still will have a problem. Get the compressor taken care of (even if it runs, the vent part is gone), and then test the bags for leaks. You can also trip the compressor with ground signal at the suspension computer, and then open up each solenoid to air it up to isolate the leaking bag. But I would bet some money on the vent solenoid being stuck open ;)
 
I don't know if you guys realize.... I'M FLIPPING OUT MAN!!! :eek: According to what you guys are telling me, it could be alot of diferrent things. I NEED to check everything on this car's suspension system yet I haven't even learned it correctly. I've decided I'm going to leave this project for the weekend. I'm not even going to touch it.
Yesterday my stepfather ordered bags for me online after I told him 1,000 times not to do so until I ran some tests but he insisted & did it wihtout me finding out. He actually ordered a pair of used bags I had looked at a couple days ago on Ebay. They are in great condition & they state in capital letters "NO LEAKS". If my bags are ok, I guess I can keep the others as spares. Heck, they're a gift so they're free! Can't go wrong with that.
 
Alex I would of ordered a new set if i was you. B/c now if you sensor lower those used bags you're going to create new creases and the bags can crack and then you'll be back to point A. read on this subject its been covered before use the search button.

This happened to my 95..and it did the same thing.
Only issue is.. the vent solenoid isn't serviceable by itself

It's new compressor time!

take a deep breath it is not that bad....
it's a fairly simple system that either works or it doesnt.

there are 2-3 trouble areas that mimic other problems, once you get a good idea what is the problem it will be easy to repair.

9 times out of 10 you just need to "chunk some money at it".

No big deal.

DO NOT sensor lower used bags....unless your financially prepared to replace them

That's the part I'm afraid of... I have 2 hobbies, lol & both with issues. 10 days ago I had an accident (to avoid a car collision) veared off to the side up onto the curb blowing one of my truck tires (22 inch wheel, I had to cough up some nice $$$ for that one tire) + since my jet ski trailer was attached, once it hit the curb it tore off the axle, snapped it in half & cracked one of the wooden bunks where the ski sits on. All of this was in the Florida Keys last week. Had to transport it on a transport/gardening trailer
The trailer needs to be fixed bigtime. Can't move the ski until that's done. The car needs to be fixed as well, can't move IT as well until it's raised. DAMN EXPENSIVE HOBBIES! lol. :Bang

The car is actually about an inch lower now than seen on those pics taken 4 days ago.
