has anybody bought the livewire yet? is it worth buying instead of the x3, oh and what does this actually do to your car in order to add the horsepower and everything else it adds?

doesn't add horsepower you nincumpoop...you should REALLY use the search tool. The SCT fixes the eletronic problems relating to performance of the throttle body..or if I'm not mistaken...the tranny. Each flash will affect it differently letting it get smoother performance...if you have exhaust, CAI and tune you'll be looking at Gen II getting 14.2 average on the 1/4 mile and Gen I getting 14.3 on the 1/4 mile

A very fun device that I hope to have.....try getting the codes from some of the top 2 choices we have here on LVC

oooooooooooh.ok thank you, so it just lets you lose less horsepower to the wheel? therefore adding? or its nothing like that at all? yeah i've read on people mods that there LS have been tuned by ILLS i think it was. i dont know how that works but i'll look into it

Actually it reflashes the car's computer therefore adding add hp. I have the livewire, I just haven't gotten tunes for it yet because SCT doesn't have any Vista 64 compatible software and my old computer won't talk to my wireless internet. It has more features than the xcals but the tuning will be the same. The features of all the SCT modules are listed on SCTflash.com

Pete is incorrect.

The SCT devices reflash your PCM programming to:
- give more power and torque
- remove the rev limiter in P/N (limited at 3000rpm)
- remove the speed limiter (non-sport Gen1, all Gen2 limited at 133mph)
- correct the speedo for different size wheels
- firm shifts
- change shift points
- improve throttle response in the throttle-by-wire Gen2
- ....etc, etc, etc

Livewire adds a realtime display, 0-60, hp/torque estimates, ....

I have issues uploading tunes form the Livewire into my Gen1

Here's is my Livewire -> http://www.lincolnvscadillac.com/showthread.php?t=13357&page=23
Here's the thread where we got the SCT devices working on the LS -> http://www.lincolnvscadillac.com/showpost.php?p=27874&postcount=8

Wow.

Then I blame that :q:q:q:qer who PMed me 2 months ago and said it doesn't add HP :P

How much editability is capable with these tuners? Can you completely replace timing and fueling tables? Change injector values? Calibrate for larger MAF sensors?

Pete is always incorrect...

yes a SCT reseller can. End user cannot unless you purchase the "Pro Racer" package - which is nearly the same software a dealer has - except limited to only one car.

so to flash the pcm with it i have to take it the a SCT?

no - you have to purchase an SCT product - either an X3 or Livewire. You purchase it through a reseller - who can do a tune for you. We mostly use Torrie (@fastpartsnetwork.com) or ILLS (on this board).

Like I said - I have had issue using the Livewire to upload tunes, all other functions work. My XCal2 works well

Just to add on to what Quik said, I emailed Ills and Torrie before I bought the Livewire and asked them about the problems Quik has experienced. They told me that they have both had customers who used the Livewire for tuning on both 1st and 2nd gens without any problems. Their best guess was that the problems he has experienced are most likely just an isolated case.

I believe - it's only limited by the PCM strategy codes (not engine type) that SCT have reversed engineered and have in their database.

so does this mean i can purchase one of these for my 01 v6 sport?

you need to check with the tuner - he can tell you if he has access to your PCM strategy code.
