Got HID?

Abraham Lincoln-

I am in Glenside and not too far from you (40 minutes tops), the HID's are easy to do whoever you get them from, I got 5000K's and a friend got 4300, you honestly cannot see any difference-both are white and not blue, but they are not yellowish which is what your halogen high's will be when you leave them in to work with your new. low beam HID's. I think it is very common that the o-rings are too thick for the 9005 openings on your housings, so you swap out the o-rings from the 9005's that you will be selling at a yard sale (give the yard sale buyer the fat o-rings, just to make them crazy).
It is easy to reverse the plug that goes into the ballast so when you first fire up your new lights, only one will work OR maybe both will not work-you only have to flip the connector, it's not broken...

you need to do the trimbright fix, it makes the HID' so nice, you won't use your highs anymore. Many on here like to bake the housings, or cut them apart, I used a more direct method involving a hole saw, it was easy and will be accessable in the future for any repairs I want to do.

I did not cut the wire that annoyingly tells you that a light is out (it isn't, these just use less power so the headlight module thinks you have a light out) Hit reset, it goes away. I have not taken apart the steering column, to rig the highs and lows so that they stay on together when you push the multifunction lever away from you-the lows are bright enough you will not care about highs anymore, IMO. Or, if you want, you can pull the multifunction lever towards you and hold it long enough to see that the high and lows together are not that much better than the lows with HIDs=You will have to aim your low beams after you have done the trimbright and HID's, something you probably gave up trying to do with the lousy halogens.

I don't use the auto lights anymore, only because when the HID's fire up, they suck alot of juice-so I don't want them to go on when I first start up, since the new 200 amp alternator is already hard at work charging my new 1000 CCA battery after my Mark has been sitting for a week I(mine is not a daily driver, it is a fun car)-I manualy turn the lights on instead, makes for a happier electrical system. I am sure these can be wired into a relay to help this issue, but I'll get around to it some other time, maybe-I can live with it the way it is.

If you get these and want some help, road trip is no problem, but honestly, there is nothing to installing these-if I do come up, though, promise you won't make me drive 135 +MPH, I don't get tickets anymore.

cool yea i installed d2R's in my corrado a while back, it wasn't hard. I'm just saying i think my headlight housings are still good... i want slightly blue oem hid look so that would be the 4300k right.

intense hid doesnt offer 4300K? im about to order a pair. There are some other vendors that sell 10 bucks cheaper shipped but if everyone is having luck i'll go for it. How fast is the shipping? Where is the seller located?

I can't see any hint of blue in my 4300K. Maybe 6000K would be better for you? Thats what turborich, unity and jamie97lsc have.

If it helps anyone I bought my hids for the LS from autoluminte on ebay. It was $75 shipped for the set. I believe he offers 4300K. I got the 5000K and they look good. They also came with a 2 yr waranty

the factory mark VIII hid's are only like 3800k so there wouldnt be any blue to them, i just took out my factory 96 lsc hid housings and bulbs from one of my 93's and they didnt have anywhere near a blue hue to them, my 6000k might have a tiny bit, side by side to martin's 4300k's there was not a noticable difference to the eyeball, but i think the look in front of the cars going down the road may show a little difference, either way i can see awesome now so im putting another set in my other 93, i wasnt about to blow a stock hid bulb and try to find another or pay for one, sure i sell parts, but when i have hid stuff it gets sold i wont keep it for myself!

I have my hids in the high beams, because i'm too lazy to hack open my super clear passengers side housing which has the crap reflective, which reminds me, turborich have you gotten rid of those housings? I'll take both

I will send u a private message:)

6000k is just a bit too blue for me. Not much, but its borderline "I added HID to my car and you can see they are not OEM" look. HAHA They look great though for sure, but one step whiter would be my next kit I think.

5k it is def

5000k is supposed to be considered the same light as noon daylight, white in color-they are different than what you have now, but you really will see much better at night-

the thing I noticed when having someone hold the multifunction lever so I could see the difference between 9005 halogens and new 5000K HID's is that there is a big difference in color-and I had the aftermarket silverstars (I think that what they were called) by sylvania that were supposed to be 'white'-they look more yellow incolor next to 5000K, which look blue when fired up and when fully charged, are white.

Well, I know that many of you Guys are looking for the best bang for the buck..

The HIDS that I sell I stand firmly behind them, they cost more then the el Cheapo ebay ones $150. But they do come with a Lifetime warranty. I have had 1 bulb failure and 2 ballast failures with over 10K kits circulating in 4 years

The only thing I do not cover in the bulbs are hot strikes and all of my ballasts are digital.

Received my HID kit from Japan Import, it was shipped fast, but they sent me the 9006 bulb instead of the 9005. Is there enough difference to matter?

David

That will not work unless you are prepared to trim alot of material of the bulb base on the 3 "pegs" you can use a 9005 in a 9006 housing but you cant do the opposite.

how are the ebay ones cheap? Seems like there a quite of few pleased people running them.

The first is my HIDs in my highbeam socket, second is the halogens in the lowbeam socket, Rich I PM'd you back, I may however grab another set of the HIDs on ebay for my lowbeams (or highbeams when I switch my current hids over) and have hids for lows and highs for when I travel on those dark highways

Oh and I got mine from japanimportshop the same guy as most people have.

Japan Import did ship me the correct 9005 set in 3 days. The HIDS are definately a big improvement (6000k). More blue tint than I thought they would be, but at this point it dosent matter. I can always buy another set of 5000K bulbs, think someone said $22.
Now I need to aim them, and cut the wire for the check lights.
I Wet Sanded the lens per a tech article from the other sight, installed the jumper for the highs, while replacing the MFS. My internal chrome was about 80-90% intact, so I did not do the trimbrite.

Best of luck, I only say that because if they are under $99 chances are they are analog ballasts. AKA el Cheapo. They do not have the ability to measure voltage and resistance. which most of them go plugged into your factory pigtail. Which can mean problems.

Digital ballasts do have that ability, so if there is undervolt, or over resistance measured they shut off, protecting themselves from damage and damage to the stock wiring.

Plus Mine are able to talk back to the message center and the famous "Exterior Lamp out" is eliminated. I have HID on both low and high beams. with the mod to make all 4 come on at the same time.
