how to get spark plug out?

ok, these things are deep inside, i broke it loose but how do i get it to come out? do i need a magnet for this? i try to angle it with my plug sucket but it hopelessly drops out once i start trying to get it out.
 
You must have a crappy spark plug socket! Mine grips no problem. Changing the plugs was one of the easiest servicing tasks (that and the PCV) i have done on the car - was quite a refreshing change! Lol.
 
yea it worked! any hints on getting at the passenger side plugs? how do i remove the intake tube?

Monkey see... monkey do... undo bellows clamp and pull the bellows off the tube, pull off clamp holding tube, pull off the rubber hose and IAT sensor connector on side of tube, pull off weather strip on cowl for easy access, then use a 1/4 drive ratchet to undo the centre bolt holding tube to throttle body.

Edit: Once tube is removed, KEEP the throttle body covered with a plastic bag taped over it or something... don't want dirt etc. in there!
 
haha I had the same questions when I started working on my mark...only I didn't ask them...was to embarrassed haha ya man just tear that tube off you wont break nothing just use your head.

PS I don't mean literally rip it off.

i never take plugs out with a spark plug socket, because if you use it to put them back in the socket pulls off the ratchet and gets stuck on the hole. i use a regular socket and then once the plug is loose, i use a telescopic magnet to get the plugs out, takes about 10 minutes to change all the plugs, easy easy job!!

well i used a longer socket, i used the spark plug wire to get the plug out. putting it back in i put the end of the spark plug back in the plug wire get it down seated properly so i wouldnt just drop it in there and possibly mess up the gap.

btw jamie do you have any gen 1 fuel leveler floats?

I tape the socket to the extension im using to stop that - old habit! Lol.
 
I just did my plugs tonight as well too :)
I bought a 6" spark plug socket and put an extension on that and it worked perfect. I wiped down the socket every other plug with silicone lube and it slid in and out easy. Once I got everything out and realized I didn't have a plug gapper anymore, and it was 10 minutes before the stores closed! I drove very dang quick to get one, lol...
The only tough part I ran into in my case was routing the new 10.4mm Taylor Thunderbolt 50 wires. That was a chore!

It definately looks like spring is here with everyone doing their tune-ups and stuff :D

I'm not sure, I haven't fired up the car yet. :)
They did fit very well (lengths) but they were a pita to route due to the thickness. They seem and feel like a very solid wire. I had to modify the rubber grommet holding the wires running into the plug cover. I also bought the retainers that hold them and mounted a set on the alternator bracket (tapped and screwed them on) so it looks like a giant sized stock setup ;)
 
My sparkplug socket has a rubber washer in it that holds the plug once it's loose. I use a piece of rubber hose to put my plugs back in.
