heh check out this thread on LVC

This guy has done a shyt ton of mods to his Mark 8. I dont know anything about the Mark suspension, can it corner better than the LS with basic mods?

I doubt it if he is talking about it being on OEM bags. Bag suspension isn't designed to handle all that well.

What I would like to see if his Mark8 on coils go against an LS like mine on my coils. I have driven my car a significant amount of time on OEM, Eibach and now my current suspension, and I can say that my coils are far superior then my last 2 iterations. With the added negative camber and my dampening turned up the car can dance and feels like a go kart. I have zero body roll even if I try to act like a moron.

I don't autocross or track my car, but I'm sure it could hold it's own and not embarrass itself.

Your car + Top Gears track = Car-Gasm! Seriously tho, I would LOVE to see your car in the hands of the Stig (Top Gear UK of course) running the Top Gear Track. Would be freaken epic!

pretty much. especially if you compare the two engines from 03 or 04.

its a decade newer, it better make close to the same from being smaller. kinda like how everybody else is now making more power than that with two less cylinders and even less displacement

Of course it needs to, i never argued that. Two bad theyre all in fwd ****boxes.

you guys are all retarded, both cars are outdated, slow, problematic, and have less options that half the econoboxes you can buy for 16k new...

I love my car, but I would never buy it again.

both sides need to shut up about their cars, if you were arguing your f40 is better than a countach, there would be a real argument ( the f40 wins by the way) but you are arguing over which pile of **** smells just a tab better.

you both lose

You have a gen I so you're missing a lot of stuff. Makes you're view on the car a bit biased.

And not a fan of either the F40 or countach. Im more of a Aston guy.

Hmm, okay.

Styling is subjective, and I personally like the styling of the Mark VIII over the LS. Features, well I do hope they are years ahead of the Mark VIII but really IMO they are not. A car in that era, the Q45 comes to mind that was a head of it's time, not the LS.

And how many cars came with HID back in 95? In 97, HID were standard.

And for a few grand, you still get what you pay for when you get a Mark VIII.

Some people like Mark VIIIs and some like the LS for their own reasons and it's not because they are cheap.

I can go pull quotes from threads bashing LS owners all day, i simply reinstated what some mark owners have said themselves... now onto the comparison.

Actually the M45 was compared to the LS:
http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/sedans/112_0305_midsize_sedan_comparison/viewall.html

Foreign car companies have always been more advanced. We are talking about an American sedan that really had no competition from the big 3 at that time.

The HID's on the mark aren't very good and proprietary. Industry first, but as you see it didn't go anywhere. The LS has a modern xenon system. Along with a lot of other features that cars of the time didn't have. Not projector's, but still really damn good.

And if you don't think the LS was ahead of its time, why is the platform still used today in the XF? And that's a beast of a car. As Bull just mentioned, a lowered LS can handle almost like its on rails. Low 6 second 0-60 pulls from a near 4000lb sedan is far from slow.

not really, gen one or two, they are both flops, the cavalier and pt cruisers lasted longer, gee I wonder why, maybe because I am buying a lincuar or jaucoln for the price of a nice bimmer.

both cars are very very outdated, I feel as though the LS looks better, because its not so round, but get over it, there are tons and tons of more reliable cheaper, and better optioned cars available than both.

Yes, I know this. I was just stating that the success of the 4.6L engine has more to do with Ford shoving them into the Mustang and F150 then it has to do with being in a Lincoln.

Yes yes, the 4.6L came in the Lincoln first. The Lincoln brand has very little to do with the succesful aftermarket that is available for the 4.6L. The Mustang and F150 has almost everything to do with the 4.6L aftermarket.

Or are you trying to say that if the 4.6L was a one-off engine only sold in the Mark 8's that somehow there would still be a huge aftermarket for it?

In no way was I disagreeing with you, more agreeing with you and complimenting your statement sir :)

Both cars have their issues. One has a cooling system that goes to **** and the other gets slammed to the ground.

When you buy a mistreated car, you get what you get. Mark owners are just cheap, and cant put down the money for an LS in decent condition. And if they can, they have too much pride and refuse to let go of the 90's. Both cars are aging fast. But the LS is still way ahead.

Ha. Likely, lots of people here own/owned both INCLUDING my self, I can personally say I enjoyed and still do enjoy mark viii's better then I enjoyed the Ls. For my personal driving style the Ls lacked in many ways that the mark viii shines. You buy an Ls to look good and enjoy the the car for what it is, you buy a mark viii to give the car a new life, how's my threads do you see on here about guys buying a wrecked Ls and bring it back to full glory?

It's a different love for 2 completely different cars. No sense arguing it when we all know no conclusion will be made. You can go back to polishing your Ls and putting gaylos in your headlights. Ill be at my work installing my cobra intake and 1 piece drive shaft.

In a few ways tho dude, the Second Gen drives entirely different. For starters, the pedal is electronic and no longer cable. As well, Elect steering. The interior has improved with a larger more adjustable console. more HP. In a lot of way the two cars are very different, yet still the same.

Outdated? By Calender yes. By functionality, hells no. I don't care what you 'Think', Rather brings facts to the table.
Show me a 2012 Altima with motorized pedals? Show me a Camry with Seat AC? Show my an Accord with Puddle lights? All as a STANDARD option? these are all mid sized 30k+ cars. They still don't touch the LS.
Here, Ill even throw the LS against Luxury contenders.
LS price was 38k? Show me a $38K Luxury car with Wiper sensors and wiper heaters?

Whether you like it or not, the LS STILL IS Ahead of this time. Until 30K cars come with loads of features (And, they NEVER will because simply put, less feature = less weight = better fuel mileage) thats when you can come on here and say the LS is outdated.

The only thing really, is the engine itself. 280HP by today's standard wont hold anymore. But thats why Jaguar (Who still makes the AJ Engine) has bored it out to make 375 HP. Then Forced induction to make 500 HP.

Our engine and platform are still alive, just in Jaguar Form, and modernized and enhanced. Something the LS Could have been had Ford not screwed up the marketing on this car..

Didnt you have a truck? Actually i dont have rings in my lights, not planning on it either.

We buy LS's because we felt like it.

Have fun with that, i don't need to drive boosted for my dailly driver. LS is now my second car for when im tired of driving a truck.

... and putting gaylos in your headlights...

Jump across the forum to come and post stupid sh*t like that here ?

Is there any real reasoning behind it all ?

Do you need us to be over there and remind you folk how dumb and awkward looking the Mark's dash is ?

I like the Mark guys....I actually seem to read more of their threads than ours most of the time.

prbly not

Which mark?
He has two.
One runs mid 13's n/a
One runs a real low 13's on boost, street tune nice car.
I guess you say "a shyt ton of mod."

Don't see too many numbers like that from a LS.

Just sayin....

 The dash in the Mark VIII is pretty awesome, it gives a cockpit like feel. What is awkward about it, especially when compared to the uninspired LS dash?

The switchgear is right out of the Sable. Right down to the shift handle and steering wheel.

And? So every piece is not proprietary, why is that an issue? Besides, what does that have to do with the "dumb and awkward looking dash" as quoted?

Par for the course, you do not address my question.

What is there to answer to, I told you I find it dumb, awkward and it's just plain ugly.
You like it, that's your prerogative, it's not for me!

As a matter of a fact I think the bodylines on it suck as well.
... right up there along with an AMC Pacer.

Q45/M45 IMO was ahead of their time as just in the past few years things like radar guided cruise control and voice activated are becoming big. It was unheard of back in 2002.

The HID's on the mark aren't very good and proprietary. Industry first, but as you see it didn't go anywhere. The LS has a modern xenon system. Along with a lot of other features that cars of the time didn't have. Not projector's, but still really damn good.

It's still Xenon gas being charged no matter if it's AC current or DC current. If you meant the headlights, yeah the Gen 1 housing doesn't spread that good but Gen II have no problem with the spread.

And if you don't think the LS was ahead of its time, why is the platform still used today in the XF? And that's a beast of a car. As Bull just mentioned, a lowered LS can handle almost like its on rails. Low 6 second 0-60 pulls from a near 4000lb sedan is far from slow.

And I guess that is what it is, I could care less about handling. I like a big two door cars with a V8 engine. My Town car is a whale and I do have complaints about how handling in that car is because of how floaty it is. But my Mark VIII, even if it handled better, I really wouldn't give a **** about it because it handles perfectly fine and I have no complaints.

Do you need us to be over there and remind you folk how dumb and awkward looking the Mark's dash is ?

It might be awkward to some but not dumb at all. It's my car, me driving it, so leave all the f'ing controls to me.
