I've seen it done before but not to often. I guess a lot of people just dont like the style or think its to ricerish or what not. however I do like the look and ive started a small transformation that over the next several months will encompass a lot more. and thats some carbon fiber look to my cockpit.

here is a quick get er done. only 2 peices so far and for the most part they came out rather nice. Im a little disapointed by the cigarette lighter area but all in all not bad for a first try.

the shifter area looks awesome as hell i think and as much as some people like that dark wood look. I am tired of it. so boosh here is some carbon fun. I am planning on doing the enither bezel area around the gages and air bag. however getting the light selector plate covered is going to be a bitch. it was a huge fail for us tonight. However it will be accomplished.

Dude, opinions are nothing but that... OPINIONS! FVCK what anyone else tells you about carbon fiber. I don't think it's ricerish. It all comes down to the right color match. I think carbon fiber looks hella sick on black interior. I think it would look horrible on tan interior so I guess that would indeed make it ricerish, lol... I definitely can't wait to see the rest of your process. I love what you've done.

I'm stripping all the fake wood from mine and polishing up the metal as best as I can, has an aluminum appearance. I might spray a sealer on it just to get prints off and such.

Pretty sure that's REAL wood on the surface..do a search on it. Also btw trippen out..that carbon fiber looks good! Deffinetly only works for black interior though like ulimatesvt said.

Oh!! Dammit. Your center console is two pieces. I also really liked the dark carbon fiber look and think it woulda rocked my Gen II black interior EXCEPT... my one piece console was an absolute nightmare to wrap. I just couldn't get the vinyl to cooperate through that big curve. That looks spectacular!! Jealous.

So i fouind out that by using a heat gun this stuff will become super plyable this should be interesting. I'm pretty stooked about how that part has turn out and I cant wait to finish the rest.

I'm looking forward to the morning when the car is in daylight. I hope it still looks nice. Might even clear coat some of it

I've been thinking about this as well, but have so far been discouraged by the one-piece shifter bezel.

The stuff I was planning on getting is kinda expensive too. I've got a lot of other things right now that need my money more than this does. Lol.

It looks great I am getting some interior parts ready to do the same thing and now i know what the radio surround and shift bezel look like done.

I would use a hairdryer for it not a heat gun. You could also use a credit card or something of that sort with a rag over it(so you do not scratch the vinyl) to smooth out edges and bubbles.

Did you wrap the cup holder tops also?

Now install the plastic cover that goes on the outside of the head unit :) you should paint the Lincoln emblem silver too or some other color than gold..gold just doesn't work with anything else now that you have no wood grain anymore.

Just go to Harbor Freight and get a heat gun. You'll be glad you did. Practice with it first but don't try a hair dryer. It's not quite hot enough and can cause more of a mess than help because of the air but with a heat gun, there is very very little wait and it will make the wrap go where you want it, like window tint.

@Trippen

That does look good with the black interior. For your first time, I think you done a good job. If I was to do it, I would want more of a gloss coating, like original real carbon fiber.I also have to agree with Kevin, the wood should be real unless someone covered yours before buying the car with the fake wood wrap. It's burl-wood that can look like this

Or it can be molded to this.

Before it ever was cut for furniture or cars.

I saw the title and all ready had a reply in my head. Carbon fiber "love the material but hate the look". But you have changed my mind. First application of fake carbon fiber that I like. Very nice.
