Ok I will be posting these because there has been some talk of it lately. Now first off you have to under stand that these are for SETUP drag cars. Meaning that if your #'s are off its showing you how much you are leaving on the table not maximizing your combo. These formulas work 100%.

60ft = ET x .12 + .17

ET = 60ft - .17 divided by .12
 
I either need to get a 1.67 sixty foot or not be able to run faster than a 13.58. :rolleyes:
 
For example a 2.300 60ft SHOULD be a 17.75 ET that shows how slow mk8s are out of the gate and that they make it up big time on the big end.
 
Another rule of thumb equation like those above is 1/4 mile ET = 1/8th mile ET x 1.56.

For instance, a 8.000 1/8th mile ET should correspond to a 12.48 1/4 mile ET.

60' "rule of thumb" equations typically don't apply well to these heavy cars.
 
What gears/stall/tire did you make that pass on? Heck, my last time out, one of my passes consisted of a 1.810 60', 7.942 1/8th, and a 12.316 1/4 ET with a 113 MPH trap...but I REALLY need a new pair of slicks.

4.10's /3400/ nitto 555R radials 17 inch 245 45. Whats your car weigh?

You're pulling some pretty amazing ET's for a stock engine with just gears/stall.

The last time I weighed the car was on Leitem's scales at the '06 SC/XR7 Shootout, and it was 3602 lbs without the driver, on street tires, with a full tank of fuel. A lot has changed on the car since then. If I had to guess, the car probably weighs ~75 lbs more nowadays (in street trim).

Thanks. I have not seen faster 100% stock engine(just crank underdrive) 60ft out there. One guy said he did a 1.810 but no slip. (i do have LT headers and complete 2.5 exh thru muffs)

So your car is 3800 race weight at line roughly?

These are the #'s you should be running off your 113mph


60 Foot 1.63
330 Foot 4.71
660 Foot 7.40
660 MPH 91.87
1000 Foot 9.73
1/4 Mile ET 11.73
1/4 Mile MPH 113
 
I'm well aware. I should also be running at least a 4.56:1 gear instead of the 4.10:1, if not a 4.88:1, but I spend far more time cruising at 80 MPH on the highway than I do at the track. We'll see what happens with a new set of slicks at the Shootout this year.
 
this "formula" is probably only true to naturally aspirated automatic cars..if you think about it, a stick car (with a suspension set up for drag racing and slicks) will get out of the hole way faster than an automatic and show a much better 60' time, but only run a slightly faster time than an automatic with the same set up...think of a stock eliminator car, most run 4 or 5 speeds with a HUGE gear and a high winding small block, they hit hard off the line but run out of steam at the top end..

and then there's your turbo cars that don't make power until after the 60' mark (most of the time) but can still run a faster than normal 1/4 mile time when compared to it's 60' time..

. Autos can and do 60 like a mofo. Shoot my old 351 auto went 1.38 60ft N/A.

What are we calling a stock engine over here on this site? I wouldn't call FI a "stock engine".
 
I'm not sure that they were slapping Vortech SC's on Mark 8's as they went down the assembly line.
 
Thats why I said just the engine is stock. If I'm not mistaken your engine isn't stock plus add on's.

According to the ET, my 60ft should've been 1.676 and it was a 1.714.

According to the 60ft, my ET should've been 12.86 and it was 12.550.

Still a 'lil off but the car & driver tipped the scales at 4150 lbs race trim. :shifty:
 
Wow thats good. My Vortech is almost useless of the line. Needs more stall. We just changed it but I haven't tried it yet.
