Does anybody have any experience using an SCT chip in an obd 1 mark? There is one for sale locally on c-list, the guy says its never been installed selling for $250 its the #6600 PROGRAM intended for the DZA1 computer which is what came in mine originally..I can't find any pricing online for this specific chip so I don't know if 250 is even a deal or not..anyone have any info about this chip?

Yeah if I were to order new I think I'd go with BOC..I just figured if I could talk the guy down to 175 or somethig maybe it'd be worth it..

It's just a sct flip chip, that you can have with a single program, or with 4 additional programs at 1 time. SCT only listed the 6600 under 96, but I don't think there is any difference. Ask him what dealer he bought it from. They would have to program it. Then you can contact them and find out more information about that particular chip. Here is the info from SCT.

Ninja edit: American Muscle has these for mustangs, at $269.99, so the markviii will prolly be the same.

Just so it's known, when you put a chip in a DZA1, W3Z2, W3Z3, etc, all ECU's are now equal. None are better than the other. I opted to stay as stock as possible with the most aggressive tune that the Mark VIII ever had from the factory so that's why I went with the W3Z2 but if I installed a chip, that factory tune "is no longer", unless the chip was removed. As for the chip in question, I have no clue about it but from most peoples experiences, an SCT burned chip is the way to go, by someone that knows what they're doing.

I had an SCT Chip in my 95 LSC tuned by Torrie at Fast Parts Network and it was great.

My chip is from Reinhart, but will not do business with him again because he is a dick...

I've heard negatives about Reinhart & BOC. The person I have never heard or read a bad thing about is Don @ Lasota Racing. Everything about this guy seems positive!

I never heard an unkind word about Lonnie at BOC.

There's a few ppl over at TCCoA that had re-burns done somewhere else because they weren't happy with Lonnie.

Here is one I found in a couple of seconds:

Sure, go for a chip. I would avoid BOC however, I (and several others here) have had bad experiences with Lonnie. I recommend Don LaSota @ LaSota racing. He's co-authored the SCT tuning manuals and trains the SCT tuning dealers and has excellent service.

It is almost a exact copy of driller's set up before he poked and stroked his motor. That is my next step. But, it has cams, gears, stall, a built trans, UD pullies, timing adjuster, all forged guts, 42lb/hr injectors and a kick-ass tune. I have vortec and upgrades for the fuel system left to do. The times weren't ran at the track though. My brother has a drag app. So at the track the car may run slower or may run faster. It will stay side by side with my bros 96ss camaro which runs low 13s at the track and has a best of 12.89.
