First a question and then a funny story. My Mark occsionally gets a lean bank 2 or lean bank 1 code. I forget if its P0174 or P0178 but its one or both. :p
It gets the bank 2 semi regularly and it has only given the bank 1 code a couple times. I can reset it and it may come back in 50 miles or it may wait 9000 miles. Car does not run rough or stall and it always starts right up. The pump, filter, injectors and COPs are all under 2 years old (filter was changed 3K ago) and my rear O2s are shut off in the tune. I cannot find a vac leak eaither and there are no fuel smells.

Could a slightly sticking IAC cause that or are my front O2s about dead?

Now on to my stupidity. I am leaving for my 53 mile trip to work this morning and about 2 miles out my "Low Fuel" warning kicks on. I drive past the gas station thats 25 miles away and see their gas is .28 more a gallon then by my work and knowing the computer in my car is a little pessimistic I decided I would just get gas at the station across the street from my office when I go to lunch. At lunch I start her up and its at 0 miles till empty, fortunatly the gas station is 200' away. I go to pull out of my driveway and the car is tilted nose down a few degrees and it stalls. :( I knew the problem and only tried a couple seconds to restart. So there my car is, stalled out in the middle of my parking lots driveway blocking anyone from entering. So I go across the street and hope they have a gas can.... nope, sure dont. But hot damn they sell them! Only $18 for a cheap ass 1 gallon one that has a crap excuse for a cap. So I get it and put a gallon in and go back to the car. Guess what? Angle is too steep and the gas isnt high enough. Answeres my question as to where the pump is mounted. So I had to go back and buy another gallon.

So trying to save about $4 in going to the cheaper station I spent $18 for a gas can and pissed off many people plus it ate up my whole lunch break so no lunch for me. :(

*puts on flame suit*

that sucks if you were driving faster in the lot you could have coasted to the gas station

Keep doing that and you'll be upgrading your fuel pump soon. ;)

Just because you can't find a vacuum leak doesn't mean you don't have one. I had to buy a vacuum pump and isolate each vacuum circuit to find leaks on my '93. Those plastic vacuum lines get awfully brittle after the years.

I never even let her get to the low fuel warning but spaced on my way home Wed. :( It is the first time in 20 years of driving that I have done that and it pissed me off enough to make sure I dont do it again.

And the pump is a Walbro 255 thats just under 2 years old.

And Driller, I understand and thats why I am asking for opinions. All my rubber hoses are newish and i went over each one very thuroughly and could not find a leak. So if its a vac leak then id assume it was intake gasket.

Oh yeah, it ONLY trips the code at running temp with the AC off and at a stop while ideling in drive. Every time it has turned on those were the conditions. It has tripped with the AC on but only after the clutch has disengauged. Thats why I am thinking maybe the IAC just isnt moving fast enough and holding open just a little too much. Last winter it was sticking and you could hear it "thunk" open in the morning. I pulled it out and soaked it in B12 for a day and it came out very clean. I bought a new gasket and it has kept the car idling well ever since. Very occasionally with the AC off it will idle a hair rough at a stop. In any other car the idle would never be thought of cause its still smoother then most cars but when you know your car as I do then you notice the ever so slight increase in vibration.

Invest in a gym membership and get the muscle to push your car to the gas station! ;)

This would fall under the category of Fail! HAHAHAHAHA!

Sounds like a fun filled lunch time :D

I did a very similar boo-boo a few weeks ago when I was cruising back on the highway from the city next to us. I was only a few kms from my turnoff and the check engine light came on and it cut out for a sec. I thought oh crap, then saw the gauge was on empty. I was ok again till I got to the exit and went around the loop and had to go down the hill under the bridge and it kept cutting out bad there. The gas station is just on the other side of the bridge too, so I got real lucky and it coasted in the station and the light was green at the top of the hill :)

I can drive my Escort for days with the light on, but not the Lincoln, lol... Once its on empty, it's out of gas!!! :D

 I would love to see you push a 4000 lb car back up a 15* incline while the nose is only 1' out of a major road that never lets up on the traffic. The gas stations drive way is steeper and its up hill from my office to the station. Tell ya what, we will reinact it. If you can push it then I will give you $100 cold hard cash. I can leg press 750 and I didnt even try to move it cause I knew it was futile.

Easy big boy I was just teasing ya:p

I wasnt mad. If I was mad I would have used caps lock like all interwebz tuff guys do to display anger. :p

I took one look at the angle and how close traffic was and though that if I couldnt push it back then there was no way to get in it in time to keep it from going into traffic. :( Would rather blow some money on an over priced gas can then total it. :(

What up Laser? Thanks for the 10 disc cd changer you sold me awhile back. Anyway, my driveway inclines up toward the house. If I park nose-in, so the front end is maybe 6" above the rear, the car won't start if it has less than about three gallons in it. I've often had to let it coast down into the alley where its level, then start it. Must suck to live in a town like San Fran where there are hills everywhere. If you park on one without enough gas ur in for a surprise when you try to leave!

Hey hey! Long time no speak. Hows the changer holding up? Trying to get some Houston guys to come up in the spring, maybe you could come down and we do a photo shoot in Waco?
Hows your car comming along? I have done allot to mine since you last saw it. :)

Got rid of the pearl '97 and just bought a Darth Vader edition '98 LSC! :L
I'd love to come down there. Sold the changer with the '97.

We need some kind of group here in the DFW area to organize photo shoots, driving trips, and general get-togethers. Why not start with us and see who else we can get to show up?

Anyone in the DFW area interested???
