I am planning on getting mufflers swapped on my '05 V8, and am wondering if it is worth it to swap the stock cross over with an x-pipe. Any gains, better sound, etc.?

If I'm not mistaken, 2nd gen doesn't have a "crossover" exhaust, they have true duel separate exhaust, and more efficient.

So.....no.

They have a chamber in the middle where both pipes go into. Some call it another cat, but some say it's not a cat. Most are doing x-pipe. I've heard benefits over x-pipe over no x-pipe and since thats what i currently have since I took out that center "cat" piece. I'm going x-pipe this weekend

How do you get around emissions inspection in Kalifornia, I know here in Nevada they physically inspect?

The third cat, or what looks like one. Is not connected to any sensors. It seems totally pointless actually. Therefore removing it causes no problems.

I have only done it once, when I bought the car, everything was stock though. Why the question though? I still have my cats which is the biggest deal isn't? That third chamber isn't a cat, it was empty. The guy at the shop said he removed it cause it was empty and I always wondered how all the material in the "cat" fell off, but turns out it's not a cat, it's empty. I dont think I'll fail because of that

That piece isn't on the '06. The exhaust is just like the 1st gen; an "H" pipe after the resonators.

Maybe it's an H pipe then. I've never seen one so I can't tell

I have 2000 with v-8 and h-pipe is towards rear of car right before resonators stock. I now have custom exhaust and have installed an h-pipe closer up the exhaust where they first come down under body. I noticed a big difference in power and sound!! BTW i have 2.25 inch piping all way through except for mufflers which are 2.5 center in center out and they are cherry bomb extreme mufflers and tailpipes are 2.5 inch too!
