I am planning on getting mufflers swapped on my '05 V8, and am wondering if it is worth it to swap the stock cross over with an x-pipe. Any gains, better sound, etc.?
They have a chamber in the middle where both pipes go into. Some call it another cat, but some say it's not a cat. Most are doing x-pipe. I've heard benefits over x-pipe over no x-pipe and since thats what i currently have since I took out that center "cat" piece. I'm going x-pipe this weekend
If I'm not mistaken, 2nd gen doesn't have a "crossover" exhaust, they have true duel separate exhaust, and more efficient.
So.....no.

I have only done it once, when I bought the car, everything was stock though. Why the question though? I still have my cats which is the biggest deal isn't? That third chamber isn't a cat, it was empty. The guy at the shop said he removed it cause it was empty and I always wondered how all the material in the "cat" fell off, but turns out it's not a cat, it's empty. I dont think I'll fail because of that
That piece isn't on the '06. The exhaust is just like the 1st gen; an "H" pipe after the resonators.
Which part, the crossover? Why are you mentioning the '06?
Yes. Because it is a 2nd gen without that "box" behind the cats.
maybe replace the h-pipe with the x-pipe?
maybe replace the h-pipe with the x-pipe?
