I'm interested in having a posi rear end put in my car with gears. Will this setup be a direct plug and play with the Mark VIII? Will I need to change axles or anything else with this specific differential?

"2006 Ford Mustang posi differential. 8.8 ring gear and 3.31 ratio, 28 spline side gears. 35k miles

Also have the same but from a manual transmission model (07) with the 3.55 ratio with 20k miles. Differential and gear packs only, no axles or housing
Should also fit late model Explorer, E150, F150 and Crown Vics but check with the dealer to be sure"

Thanks...

Dude, add gas...send to service technician for all other problems...thanks

i dont think it would be worth it for 3.55's...if your going for gears do 373's or 410's..imho

you need an 8.8 IRS-28 spline and i agree if your going thru the trouble I would get 4:10's

You do not NEED it to be from an IRS car. Its just nice to have one from an IRS car. You can just remove the circlips from your axles and you'll be fine. The stuff you linked sounds right... but I don't know of anyone putting stuff that new into a mark.

Yeah I found these for DIRT cheap (can probably talk the guy down to like $50). I planned on getting 4.10's from somewhere else. I wanted just the limited slip diff.

So If I bought them it would be a plug and play?

See I tried asking before but I got a lot of back and forth that I do need an IRS specific, and then others saying I do not need an IRS specific unit. So who here has one that is not from an IRS specific car?

DieselDan will anything be affected from taking off those clips you're talking about?

Oh gawd damnit! Yes it fits! Mine is from a solid axle Cobra. Just dont use the circlips. People say if you do use them then its a PITA to pull the axles again. I (Jeff) left mine on and we had some issue that we needed to pull an axle back out and it came out just fine with no trouble.

You do have to make sure its a 28 spline trak loc though or else you have to get 03/04 Cobra half shafts too.

Not sure what the 05+ Stangs have in them though.

Now people on here go ape chit with gears. I wanted 3.55 gears for mine and everyone said I was dumb for wanting that ratio and to get 4.10's. I knew I didnt want 4.10s so I compromised and got 3.73's and am regretting it. 3.73 is pretty good for a NA car I guess but driving 100+ miles every day with the 3.73's and I can clearly see a 3+ MPG drop from them. Now that the blower is going on I really wish I would have bought what I wanted and got the 3.55's :(

Now I have to do some research. The guy says in the thing they are 28 spline spider gears, but I thought 05+ GT's were 31 spline..... hmmmm

I just checked and the 05+ cars are 31 spline so no, it wont work.

Talked to the guy today and he went out and counted. He said he counted wrong last time and they are indeed 31 spline, so it won't work unless I buy different axles. Oh well...I'll keep waiting for a good deal to eventually come along :(

I got mine of the Coral for 50 or 60 shipped. Was a freshly rebuilt on out of a Cobra but he rebuilt it with 4 clutches per side instead of three so it has more locking effect to it.

Just shop on SVTP and the Coral and check here too. There is always one around for under $100.

I've been looking forever but it seems every single time one pops up its gone in less than 10 minutes. One popped up here a week or two ago and It was gone within an hour or two. Freaking sucks. Ok enough whining from me :(:shifty:
