You could have gotten the solenoids off the car and wired up a rocker switch on the dash to switch them from soft to firm on the fly. I did that when I put a set of '88 T-Bird Turbo Coupe shocks and struts on my '87 Mustang. It was really cool.
whatch talkin bout Willis? can this be done on my Mark with those Tokes?

I would assume so. If I'm not mistaken, the Tokico Illumina 2 position adjustable shocks are a direct replacement for the '89-'95 T-Bird SC shocks. So it would stand to reason that the electronic adjuster solenoids on the T-Bird SC's shocks would fit directly onto the Tokico's. If you don't have the ARC computer and sensors, the only other option would be to straight wire the solenoids to a switch. I did this with my '87 Mustang with '88 T-Bird Turbo Coupe ARC shocks and struts. It worked very nicely. So there's no reason it shouldn't work equally as well with the Mark VIII.

Edit: I was thinking you were talking about the Illuninas Tokico sells now for the MN12 T-Bird SC. But the OEM ARC shocks should work with a straight wired rocker switch as well. I would love to find a set for my Mark and open up the Arnott front air shocks and try to put the OEM T-Bird ARC shocks in there along with the ARC shocks out back and put the rocker switch somewhere on the console. That would be THE coolest thing!!!

I near totally confused there now! I have an SLA suspension that I had some help rebuilding. Before I bought new front air shocks for me Mk8, actually, after I pitched the old ones in the trash, I thought about repairing them with Fix a Flat! You would need a lathe to spin them really fast and somehow inject the crap (lol)! Struts versus Shocks...holy cow! Off-topic ...I found a procedure for changing motor mounts which called for removing the front "air strut shock" on the D-side. Don't get me wrong ... I am glad there is the debate about what to call them and whether or not it matters...shows how passionate we (if I may be included) are abt these cars! :). I am learning and that is what is important!

you had to go and do it...you had to poke the strut nazi from his pacified disposition...here we go
:slam
fix-a flat?

I know, I love words and being technically correct and I am a nazi also about certain things. Seriously ... I am gratefull to all who post here and I would like to meet more folks in person who like to do things like mod air shocks! Cool stuff!! First, I have to repair my rear end (ass of the beast) suspension...control arm bushings appear to need replacing...another thread, another story also...headlamps (amongst other things!) have been bumped. :)

Which reminds me, I have to change the shocks out of my fronts struts this weekend.

Hmmm. You didn't mention that you got another car with a strut suspension that has replaceable shock cartridges  :p :D

Well, If Rockauto and all of the other parts joints says its gots the stuts in the front then its gots struts in the front.

They can't lie about that sorta thing.

And before you bother posting it, the label that came on Limits new air struts was a fake. It's so obvious.

eh? what's in the boxes? :shifty:
j/k....all looks good; all it needs is someone with some know-how and free time to put em on the sinking white one

If you're clever enough to do the fuel pump by yourself... go get those struts on... lazy

they mount to the top of the rear shocks. it is where they auto adjusting shock solenoids attach.

where do you find those? supposed to only be on 93 and early 94s.

Actually Chris.. those mount to the fronts :) they're off of a Super Coupe

SCs have those sensors at each corner.. same thing as the rear of a 93/e94

is it worth the $50 to get hd rear upper shock mounts? What's the benefit?

I picked up Vogtland springs on KYB's and Addco sway bar out of a 97 LSC that was in the Junk yard. I paid $80 for everything. The ride is pretty good.
that's a good deal!
---
I had found a 90 xr7 cougar with the electronic adjustable tokicos, snagged those with the springs at my JY for $130 for all the way around. .
helluva deal!

just realized I need perches to complete the conversion...anyone got some used ones for sale/trade?
