Which year and model ls most reilable

No, I was joking - the LS that doesn't exist is the most reliable. :p

Yeah, I figured that, but I though I would run with it anyway.

Top Gear has done some reviews of the 08 S-type. They really like the handling/power. They didn't much care for the looks, or the price.

The mark might have a beefy engine but i think its ugly.

The front looks smushed to me...like streched out. dont like the design of the headlights either.
In my opinion the LS is just an all around nicer car. The only other Lincolns that i like are the Town Car and Navigator.

I am not getting defensive at all, I just don't like stupid people. Sometimes it's better to keep quiet, if don't have a clue about something.
I respect the passion you have for Marks and I don't have any problems with that.
You come here and tell LSs aren't reliable, meanwhile you own a car that likes to break down every five days. I used to have a Mark viii and know more about them, than you ever will. I know exactly what their capabilites are and they are not half as reliable as the LSs are. And that's a fact. Besides the reliablity, the LS rides nicer, handles better, got more balls than a Mark, and is more fun to drive.
Forgot to mention it is also more of a man's car.

More balls then a mark? HA! Can your gallant, sorry I mean ls fry the tires going into second gear at 55mph? I didn't think so. And I guarantee he knows more about marks then you do. He's had like 4 or 5 of them.

An ls isn't ment for speed handling performance it's ment to go get your groceries and pick up your kids.

So please do not run your mouth it just makes you look stupid.

Actually, the LS is pretty nimble in the corners. And the trunk is TINY. Can't fit many groceries in there, especially with a sub. :D

You're right about people getting defensive quick over here. I find amusement in it as well, though I normally don't instigate it. :)

Gallant . Better than a warmed over cougar. :p

Warmed over t bird thank you very much! But yeah it's like high school all over again. I got a lot of respect for you though pektel your ls is one of my favs.

Everybody has their own taste and some will defend their style. Ill take my "grocery getter" LS anyday over a mark.

And why are we talking about marks anyways??

This is the LS forum and a thread about the LS.

I seriously want an LS as a dd. Too bad they are still a bit out of my reach, at least for a nice one.

Look around and you will find one for a good price.

I dont like to say how cheap i got mine for but i think it was a steal.

You can get a decent Gen I with less than 100K for like 6-8000, thats really not bad considering they were around 40K new. They probably aren't going to get much more cheap than that for a clean one. Of course you can find them cheaper than that, but most cars usually get to a point where they don't keep dropping in price unless the mileage goes up or they are in rough condition. 15% of original stricker price is pretty low...

Yeah thats the thing to realize.....these were $40K cars when brand new.

A clean 2006 only runs $15K by book value. So a $25K drop in 4 years of use.

ooohhhh, he had like 4, like 5 Marks. Let me ask you something, are those Rivieras like really fast..like.... they can actually burn the tires in second gear like at 55mph. See you already have the wrong mentality, just because someone had 4 marks, he knows more than you. I really feel bad for you buddy.

So LS isn't ment for speed handling performance???? Hhhhmm. What are you Helmut Schrader? You know, the German guy who designed the LS.

And if I was stupid, I would be tossing money into an old car like you, that is only gonna keep breaking down and rust to nothing. Instead..... you ready, here it comes, I would use that money to make money.
Read this carefully, I am not making the LS seem somthing that it isn't, but it is much better than a Mark viii in every aspect. If it was garbage, I would tell you it was.
Obvisouly, you know nothing about LSs. I just went through my checklist and your name was on there, so shut the fcuk up, cause I have proved you wrong before and I am not gonna even waste my time on you.

as usual, lol, the forum has drifted off topic! :D

to OP:

2006. Only comes in the V8.

It is the newest, therefore will have the least issues, but it does share most common maintenance items as all 03+ V8s

can't argue with that, plus i think 04+ has the LSE fascia, which looks tight. if your budget is smaller, go with a gen2. being the owner of both gens, at the end of the day- all things considered- it's probably a better bet.

imho.

to me $8000 is a hell of alot of money. If i could get a lower mileage gen 2 for about $6kthen id be all over it, if it were the v8. There are some out there but just not what Im looking for as far as options and colors.

I paid 8K for my gen1 almost 4 years ago. A first gen can be had for 3-4K nowadays. Just depends on what mileage you are requiring. I bought mine with 97K. Has close to 160K now.

See but $8000 isnt a lot of money for a vehicle with as many features as the ls.

You may find a gen II for less than 8K but it most likely wont be clean or a V8.

And its not that hard to get a 10K loan even with bad/little credit.

Motor size, options, interior condition, exterior condition, is it running flawlessly, how many previous owners, has it been wrecked?

All those factors come into play with price.

I got my 04 V6 this year with 25,700 miles for 10,300. And it has every option minus Navi, heated rear seats, and back up sensors

Stay away from Gen I

Stay away from the hydraulic fan pumps on Gen I, they are junk status. Have my 01 from 01 at 125k, runs flawless (of course with lots of money thrown at it). But its such a cool machine to drive.

You had a mark...then you bought a LS... and you have the nerve to call someone else stupid?

I like both the LS and Mark. Dunno which is more reliable. They both have their fair share of issues, that's for sure.

i would have to say that they are equally reliable (or equally unreliable if you would rather look at it that way) they both have their own badly designed parts, and major maintenance issues. but when properly taken care of then are both great vehicles

Yep, one can have has many problems as the other.
Depends on how well its taken care of.

I think they both can give there share of headaches.

LS's are nice.
Just not my kind of car.
Four doors make me break out in hives. :shifty:
