I know it's ultimately up to me but want to see what you guys would do. Getting it done 2maro. Figured i'd make a thread/poll while I sit here bored at work. I know i made a similiar thread 4-5 months ago but feel free to put up pics of your tint.

And yes, i'm one of the most indecisive people i know.

My past 2 cars have had tint below legal limits. First was a caprice w/ 20 all around w/ a dark maroon int. From what i remember it looked good but the cops hated me.

Second was a marquis w/ limo in the rear window and 20 on the rest..Tan int. A bit to dark and sucked backing up anywhere.

Now i WANT to stay legal with this car (35) but between my tan int and sunroof (always leave the shade open) it would almost make no diff imho. I'm thinking the 20% w/ the int color and s/r it would be a little less suspect by the cops as to how dark it could be with say blk int.

I do travel to chicago once and awhile and they do not follow illinois law reguarding tint. "Home rule" applies. You can be parked w/o anyone in the car and they'll still give you a $250 ticket on you're windshield. So that means 0 tint on the front 2 windows. This does play less into my decision as i only go down there at most 5 times a year in MY car.

Heres Keatonsdad's mark as referance to what 20 would look like on a t. red w/ light int.

So leave a suggestion on what YOU would do..

I have 15% tint all around and never have had any issues, and I routinely travel through the Chicago area.

Get what looks good, unless you know that some cop has it out for you.

In my last car i didn't have any trouble in chi, but i also didn't know that they could ticket you while parked for it. While driving i typically have my fronts down anyhow in the city.

I still say 20% it just looks so much better than 35%.

In you're opinion do pic's represent what they really look like in person?

And thanks again for putting up those pics..It's helped me greatly.

Verry much so. 35 was to grey 20 had more black to it and just looks much better. Now 5 looked so sick! But I wanted to see out at night

20% looks good.
I personally dont like different lvls on different windows f/b, looks weird to me fwiw ;)

In my marquis I couldn't tell. The 20 and 5 blended very well. From pics of 20 and 35 not so much. But it would give me peace of mind knowing if i did get pulled over for my fronts that they would meter within the 5% variance of the law.

did limo all around and 50% on the windshield, its a little too dark but I like it

I prefer no tint, keeps the po' po's off your tail round here. the highway patrol here in Kansas are notorious for stopping you even if your sh!t is legal and using a light meter to check it out. but go for what u like on your car thats what it's about bro.

Yes, true, the darker ones seem to match better. I still prefer it all one shade though.

I had this on my '79 Merc, it was awesome. I was lucky and never got hassled for it, though I did get tons of speeding tickets in it, lol :D

I had 5% on the rear and 20% on the doors and loved it. I currently have 35% and hate it. Its like no tint at all.

yea its the car in my sig, I previously had like 35% on front sidewings but this time I went limo, problem is, at night I have to open windows to back into spots and/or pull out of tight spots to make sure I don't hit anything

I personally don't like the mismatched look.....

I live in communist california, and this is the second vehicle I've tinted Dark, which is one level below limo (not sure the percentage)...the first one was 6 months ago, and it was a blacked out x lapd crown vic cop car. Even got a ticket in it with the dark tint, and the cop only gave me a warning.

Here's a shot of my 98 with dark tint and the dark interior perhaps makes it look darker...I love it. Wouldn't go lighter.

so far no cop trouble

I hate mine too but having it replaced starts getting expensive after a while. I have no choice but to have 35% all the way around. State troopers around here and some city cops will ticket me every time.

Who ever said go with no tint, piss on that. I got to have something or it just looks naked. If it were up to me, I would have 5% all around and 35% on the entire windshield. I don't drive very much at all during the night but you can still see fine but no one can see in.

20 looks soooo good.

Just be glad you don't live up here. 50% is our legal limit. My car came from florida... not sure what % it is, probably 20, but I'm amazed I haven't gotten pulled over yet. Doesn't help that it's faded and blurry too... I can't really see out the back, haha.

I LOVE the vic btw. I'd still love to get a black 04 someday... the blacked out look just works so well on those cars.

no tint, rofl... its like driving an aquarium

My first car was 35%, and it was not too bad. Everything since has been 20%, and that is a sweet spot for me. I can still see in the dark, but it tints plenty during the day.

She's done. Went w/ 20%. The old lady(owners mom) quoted me 175, it was supposed to be 220. Her son(owner) wasn't happy but made light of the situation and was very friendly during my 3 hour stay.

I'd have to say the tint makes me want to have a little alone time with the mark once I get off work. Such a tease. All I've gotten was a little 4play on the drive from the tint shop to work.

This weekend it'll be waxed up so i'll be sure to get some better pics. The pic in the sig has served its 3 year sentence so its time to let it go.

my rear window turned out fine, but they tinted around the third brake like...kinda looks hokey...if I would have known that, I would have removed the third brake light before hand so they can tint behind it.

I dont mind it that much. Not that i'm one to talk about what's legal/illegal but i beleive the 3rd b/l needs to be untinted..
