So I am seriously considering new rims soon and have found three I like equally. Actually the wheels I like the best look weird on the car in the picture but may look better in person.
So which do you guys prefer? They are all 18x8 and my tires will be 255/45 in front and 285/40 in rear as the new take offs from GT500s are under $700 shipped. I may do a 245/50 and 275/45 if the 285 is too wide for the rear on a stock height car.

I think you could do better like the 3rd ones but with a wheel lip to make them look more rwd but of those three I would have to go with #2 also
it is your car get what you like

I like option 2 but on the car it looks weird. I like 1 on the car but not so much on the wheel close up. Its a toss up.

So a 285/40 should fit on the rear?

Also I just found these and the Saleen wheel has always been a favorite. They would be $120 more for the set but I think they would look killer on a Mark. :D
Someone on here has them, no?

Just my opinion, but the five spokes make the Mark look like a hot rod.

Which is not a bad thing, mind.

Option three makes it look more like a luxo ride.

So it all depends on what look you want for YOUR car.

Good luck on the choice. :)

BTW, I always judge wheels by how hard they would be to keep clean.

2 and 3 win over 1.

I like option 3 because I have never seen anything quite like it on a mark before. BTW I think 285s are too wide unless you lift the rear up like the old hot rods lol.

Option 4. None f the above.

Option one - Wheel looks too like it belongs on an ///AMG Mercedes.
Option two - Looks too much like a "cobra" wheel... and IMHO that whole look has been played to hell and back by now.
Option three - ack.

Look, man.

These wheel polls are fun, but really not necessary. We, your fellow LvC members won't be driving your car. YOU will.

Get a wheel that YOU like, not a wheel that some dipchit off the internet likes. It's your car, not ours.

Now, if you're out to impress someone, that's another story, and I'll just STFU.

I get what you are saying. And everyone seems to also like the wheels I like the second most, option #2. I like the Saleen replicas the best but they will be $150 more and I don't really want a 9" wide wheel up front.

Others opinions are also important to me. My last toy that I bought custom wheels for got endless criticism from others about how they didn't like them. It annoyed the hell out of me. Guess in some ways I am shallow.

Here they are:

Gotta love peer pressure.

In real life, when someone criticizes my choices in say, wheels, I just tell them point blank: "Fine. YOU go buy me a set of wheels YOU like." Usually shuts people up pretty quickly.

And for the record, I like the wheels on that Rustang... then again, I like a nice lip on wheels.

of the 3 I like the 3rd the best... maybe because they look like my fr500s from the side.

I would have to agree with just about everyone else, and say option #2 but then again I also have 18" five spoke wheels on my ls.

Yeah option two is my choice.

Have you thought about going with a 17 inch wheel with tons of tire?

Just bought option #2 myself from tirerack.com for my Gen 1 Mark... Can't wait to get them I think they will look great!!!

Nope. I want it to handle well and tire side wall flex is an issue with a car this size so I want less flex to allow the suspension to do its thing.

Killer! Cant wait to see the pics when you get them. What size tire you going with?

i'll chime in for option 1. It's more complicated than a basic 5-spoke without being all bling an intricacy.

Prefer # 3. Personally, I went with my choice. I'm thick skinned though. Someone doesn't like them it will not faze me. Good luck.

You see I love the way option 2 looks. I just realized it looks allotlike the Saleen but with a little nicer detail. I hate how it looks in the rendering on the car. I guess its because the rendering does not really show the wheels detail and it looks like a solid spoke instead of that slight recess.
I bet in person they look killer though. Ill just wait till ssmoparviii gets his on and shows them off. Bet that will sell me for sure on them.

Still waiting on some input as to if the 285/40s will fit without rubbing. The wheels are 8" wide and have a 42mm offset and a 6.14" backspacing.

Also, anyone know what the stock wheel weight is? These new ones will weigh 25lbs each and that dont seem too bad.

25 is pretty heavy, but I can't talk.

With a 42 offset you're pretty hairy on fitting a 285. 36 on a 9" wheel will fit a bfg 275, which is extra wide (as wide as any other 285 as far as I've seen), after the lips are rolled in.

I'm running the bfg 275 40's and with a roll and a trim on the bumper cover I cruise with 2" ground clearance, and no rub.

That 42 might kill you. Maybe you'll be able to get by with a 275 non bf, not sure though.

The good thing is, the wheels camber in a bit when you hit bumps. So if it's close at ride height you can probably squeeze by the fender without rubbing.

It would suck to invest and see that it won't work though. Maybe look at brads selection, he makes wheels that WILL clear. Very nice guy to boot, and real reasonable prices.

Good luck.

Just the factory size for now being that they are only a couple of months old
