So.....after swapping in the new engine in my 97 a couple weeks ago, there was one thing left unplugged. It comes up right in front of the battery. I looked on the old engine and there is plug on the harness off of the battery ground that goes into this mystery plug.
It's not on the new engine harness. I don't know if it's because the engine came from a 98 and the car's a 97, or what the deal is. Can anyone tell me?
It doesn't seem to be affecting the operation of the car.
Thanks!

I don't know about that plug and don't know if my 95 has one or not but you might want to consider getting an 850/1000 battery for that car. It's power hungry and that battery is very low rated in CCA/CA

Need wire color combos in that cluster
Alright, I'll go look at them real quick and see what the colors are...

I understand the power needs for these cars are more than most, but this battery has been plenty powerful enough for me so far. When I bought it, I had to go the cheap way for some reason at the time, don't remember what. Anyway, it's been good so far.

Is your airbag light on? It sure looks like the plug for the sensors bolted to the header panel. 3 prong and all.
Don't know, the airbag light has been on since I bought the car (code 32). I've got a new clockspring to put in it, but it hasn't been very high on my list of things to do....

Because you were broke like me??

I tried looking at it while changing the belt and cleaning maf. But since it was dark I didn't do much searching of where it went. Will look tmrw O and it seemed to be connected. Maybe run a power tester to it.

I looked earlier, and the airbag crash sensor on the drivers side does run that way. I have not been able to get to the plug to look and see if it's the same, but I will try to get to it later. I need a new battery so I'll get it out of my way and check tomorrow morning. Was your car ever wrecked? Maybe they didn't plug it back in, good reason for your air bag light to be on.

It used to be plugged in. The engine I just put in the car didn't have the plug that goes into that one on it. It doesn't look like it ever had one either. I'm the one that did the work, so I know that's true.
I don't know what the deal is.

Isn't there some ground wires coming off the battery/frame that have a plug right there like that?

That is what the plug is for, the air bag plugs are white. The plug coming off the negative terminal is black. No clue what it is for, but that's where it goes.
