I am looking to start my COP conversion sometime soon, and I want to clean as much junk from the engine compartment as possible. I know these are for the EGR, but my car is chipped, and I don't even know if it is using the EGR anyway... Anywho, I want to delete these and hide the wiring, but I was curious if its going to piss the car off or make the CEL stay on. I started the car and let it idle for a bit with them disconnected with no CEL, I'll see what it does on the way to work tomorrow.

One is for EGR, and the other is for IMRC. The rear one unplugged will not allow the egr valve to work. The front one unplugged will keep your imrc butterflies open.

Secon gens will throw a code if the EGR solinoid is absent even if turned off in the tune. Not sure if a first gen would throw a code for it not being there.

i was under the impression it had to be plugged in, even if not used or even hooked up, to avoid a code.

Yep, like others said the one on the front is the IMRC solenoid, the rear most one is the EVR solenoid. You could relocate them to the firewall, back of the head, or front of the engine with some vacuum barbs, hose, wire, solder, heat shrink, and wire loom. Only a dedicated mark fan would be able to spot the difference if you took your time and did it right.

Thinking of relocating them under the d/s strut cover with the DIS module...
