looking to buy some and i just have no clue, im sure theres some great buys on cl and ebay im just not positive what to look for. more watts? or size?

dont want a whole type paragraph just what makes it better and what doesnt. 2 6" or one 12"

i like older rockford fosgate.

2 10s seems to be sufficient for most people and a decent compromise between a quicker 8 that can do higher notes and a slightly slower 12 that can do lower notes.

ported boxes are louder. sealed boxes are more accurate. personally, i don't like boomy ported boxes.

amps aren't everything. my 200w rms fosgate amp ran my 2 10 inch audiobahn subs no problem.

Free advice comes at a cost; you don't get to choose what you get. :slap:

Here, I will be sure to not use any paragraphs...

Firstly, (2) 6'' circle ≠ (1) 12'' circle.

A= πr^2 -so- (2)6" speaker cone area: 56.5 sq. in. -and- (1)12'' speaker cone area: 113 sq. in.

As above shows, a single 12'' has 2x more cone area than two 6".

If you want speakers to go in stock locations, buy the right size (5x7/6x8) or use an adapter.

If you want loud music, don't cheap out, you need lots of power.

Look for wattage ratings in RMS close to the amount of power you can put into them.

Extra wattage rating over what you have to send to the speaker is wasted $, unless you plan to add more power later.

Don't fall for gimmicks.

If it looks like cheap sh*t, chances are it is.

Don't buy a name brand you wouldn't be proud to tell people about, that's a pretty good rule of thumb.

If you buy a speaker that says 10000watts and it's 6'', you likely failed.

A 12'' is not better than a 6'' unless you are: A. sharing "size" stories -or- B. comparing apples to oranges

Size does not make speakers (or relationships) better.

The above statement is shrouded in controversy in both scenarios.

Audition several sets in your budget that will fit, buy what you like the sound of regardless of pretty much any other variable.

Welcome to LVC.

2 12 are the best but if you cant fit that do 2 10. a pair is always better but say away from 6 in speakers bro for real

I'm running all kenwood excelon for my amps deck and highs 6.5" components front and rear and 2 10" alpine type r's on the alpine mrp-m2000 which is more then enough power....my :q:q:q:q sounds awesome and absolutely pounds

this makes so much sense, but when you said ;接;拉 阿薩薩拉 does that work in all cases or just the one i described?

This is mine. Three 10" JL's in a slot port vented box that was made to JL specification from CD software. Two Kicker amps. One for subs and one 4-channel for the inside.

The deck is a Kenwood eXcelon KDC-X993 single din with the ability to color match the rest of the dash lighting. Off or on, it doesn't look out of place with one single knob on one side or silver colors. It has a rear USB input for mp3 devices and I keep an iPod Touch in the console and never use CD's. The wire reaches just fine and is well hidden and tucked away. Has bluetooth and comes with a mic which I have hooked to the visor and the head unit answers the call for you on how ever many rings you set it for. It has streaming music capabilities and all the sound setting you would ever need and also, if found, it's not high priced. No navigation because I don't need navigation. Some do as they travel but I do good without.

Can't forget the battery terminals. I went with Kicker Nickel plated and a Platinum plated Kicker fuse holder with a 150 amp ANL fuse.

On the inside, I have 5X7 / 6X8 Kicker 2 way that scream and have a damn good hit to them but they also have good power going to them too.

In the front, I have JL Audio 5X7 2 way and they sound very good to me. Anything beats that stock crap they put in them new. I threw all that in the trash, stereo and all.

I'm 43 and I listen to it all but as far as riding around booming, I don't do that but if I ever want to, it's there. The head unit has a sub volume control and I can make it like there is nothing in the trunk. I can turn it up and make it sound like I have 12's or 15's but it's all in the box, power and subs you have.

You're going to get various inputs from everyone but it's all about what you like. I don't live in my car and I might drive it 3K miles a year. I don't need "sound stages" inside my car but some prefer that and going with components in the front and rears, usually by Infinity or JL or Alpine ect. I kept mine simple but it does sound good and it's clear, even using the iPod Touch.

Now, that's my input. :D

i have always used kicker subs. they work in smaller boxes than most other speakers and quality and power handling is excelent. ive mostly used solobarics, but their pricy these days, i have 2 12" cvr dual voice coils with 800rms with1000w peak and they gobble it up,plus i have my entiretrunk with accessto my spare tirewel. dont know how to insert pic here but itsi n my album or ill send i to you

I use a 10" Boston G5 sub in a sealed box, 6" Kevlar speakers, single channel Memphis for the sub and a 4 channel DB Drive for the 6"s and an Eclipse AVN 5500 deck... Sounds pretty awesome :-)

Go with 2 15" audio q's in a properly built ported box. Use accu ports if you still want trunk space. Just be careful when you turn then up after break in, cracked my windshield when I did that :c

I cut out a big portion of the metal in my rear deck lid. The subwoofers cones and 2 4" accu ports are facing up towards the rear window. This allows you to get the haze effect and intensifies the audio waves. They are powered by a 1700 watt rms amplifier made by mtx wired up with 0/2 awg gauge wire made by streetwires. Make sure you do the big three site upgrade to help with voltage drops.

When looking at speakers and comparing them, it is important to look at the speaker's sensitivity, xmax and cone area.
Audio q has the best bang for your buck speakers imo. Check them out.

I think, in subs, you want to look for RMS, not max watts. RMS will be the continuous output of the subwoofer.

Sorry, I read your reply, but I don't know what you were trying to get at with the asian letters. There's some pretty misleading info in this thread, so take it as you will. This is why I try to stay away from audio advice, I love it but there are to many passionate but mistaken opinions taken as fact and I don't want to step on anyones toes. I was just tryng to razz you a little by typing individual sentences and a few bits of humor. I gave you a good bit on info and most people could probably choose a good setup based on that advice. From some of our members there's some good info here, aside from my own. GL, I hope you get the system together you want. I got my amp running today on my front components and after a mega setback in my install I am super impressed. I am so excited to finish up my install now!

what do you mean asian? ive already bought speakers on your advice。

IS THIS BAD?

In your reply to me I saw some odd letters that weren't english and couldn't understand them. Hope your purchase makes you happy.
