What size tires can fit. MK VIII?

I need to replace the tires on my mark and I want to know what size will fit on the car? It comes stock with 225 60 16 and I want to know what other tire size will fit that has a nice aggressive look like a Goodyear Assurance tire and will fit on the stock factory Octastar wheels?
I have Michelin Pilot Sport a/s um tires on my other mark and it has a nice aggressive tread pattern but not as aggressive has the Goodyear Assurance what are your thoughts know of any other tires that might fit that have an aggressive pattern like that or should I just go with the Goodyear Assurance tires thanks!
 
Do you have a working air ride? If you go with a 245/50, you might need to sensor lower to make it look right. I think that's the size that was on mine when I bought it but I put new 225's back on it.
 
245/50-16 works fine.

are you buying your tires based on looks?
will the car see rain? snow?
more the more weather you see in the car, the better a 225 tire will be.

which goodyear assurance tire? triple tread? comfortread? fuel max?
i would buy BFgoodrich over goodyear i think.

and FWIWs, i have kumhos now.
 
Triple tread. No 18's! Just want a more aggressIve lookIng tIre, lower profIle, and an aggressIve lookIng tread pattern(sporty).then I need to know about the rIde heIght adjustment your talkIng about and how to do that? Thanks!
 
AIr rIde Is workIng fIne, It wIll see rain, but no snow. this is the car that I posted on a few days ago that has only 37, 000 orignal miles on it. Garnet red glaze is the color. Pics on another string about milage on your car.
 
This is what mine looked like 2 months before I bought it and the tires were 245/50 I believe. It might give you an idea of how wide you're thinking about going. I personally didn't like the way they drove but anyway, it was sensor lowered as low as the brackets would allow the car to be dropped and still is with the 225's and the sig pic is with the Ray's switch having it dropped all the way. Also, if you have older bags, especially on the front, they are subject to leak air at the folds if the car is sensor lowered but might not show any signs until it gets cold out.

Is there a place here on the forum, and if not, can someone explain how to sensor lower the car a bit after I get the 245 50 16 tires installed? I think I'm going to go with the kuhmo tires. they look like what I'm looking for. Thanks!
 
Kumho is the brand that was on mine when I bought it off Jamie. Sensor lowering is easy and doesn't require removing any tires, front or back. Turn off the air ride switch with every adjustment!! Just turn the wheels in the front to access each sensor. Raise each one as high as they will go. When you tighten the nut back down, just snug it. Don't tighten it past snug. Nothing is weighting it down or has any weight on it. In the rear, you have one sensor on the drivers side but you will have to crawl under the trunk area and get under where the sensor is. If it hasn't been messed with, there will likely be 2 bolts holding it in place. One bolt is sufficient btw.. Just loosen and use along flat head or something like it and push it upwards but don't go all the way to the body of the car. It might take a few tries to get the rear to match the front but no more than 3 times. Measure the front from the flat concrete to the bottom of the fender opening and you should be reading about 26 1/2" to 27 1/4". Just make sure both sides are equal in measurement and then match the rear by eye.
