A stock mark 8 makes roughly 220-225 RWHP
your car is 19HP above a stock mark 8 and you've spend roughly 2050.00 on mods?

19 HP is about the amount of HP a "tune and a thermostat" will yield for $320.00

"merely writing checks and chunking parts on a car does not make more HP".
But you have a serious list of mods for 19 measly HP.
$215 dollars per HP gained...

my car went from 220-242 with tune and themostat.
22HP for 300 dollar chip and 20 dollar thermostat
$13.6 dollars per hp gained:eek:

In his defense not all the mods in that list autually add hp so I think it would be unfair to count them in this comparision.

agree'd that about 800 of the 2k I mention dont attribute to HP.

ok, cut that 2K in half that's still 100 dollars per hp, my point remains the same.

I did leave out the cobrastar sticker worth 20 hp, so 19 hp with his mods, 20 hp for the cobra star is still 50.00 per HP.
 
I agree that not all parts make more HP's. What does the owner want more HP's to brag about from a dyno sheet or real results on the road or track. If you want results then get gears converter and tuner. Only the tuner will give real HP improvements but the gears and converter with make the car a hell of alot faster. So really what is it you want. Me personally I don't care what the HP is. How fast can it get from here to there.

It's good that you dont mind doing that kind of rpm's but I think your car might. Spinning those kind of rpms will put a lot of unesscary strain on the parts of your car. Not to mention the extra heat it will genearte in the tranny.
 
Well I'm going to do it... and I have no worries whatsoever...

When your converter is locked up and you get rid of the slip in the trans it doesn't really matter how many rpms you are turning...

I also don't find that 3000 is putting any strain on the car at all....
 
Glad you're ok with it.....just saying that I wouldn't do it to my car.

I do find it hard to believe that it doesn't matter how many rpm's your turning, because that creates more friction. More friction = More heat. More heat = Tranny death. At the least I would say add a tranny cooler
 
I'll let you know when I start driving the car this spring, Ill record some temps and see....

I like to work with data... and I also don't have much concern about my trans going out.

read the original posts with my dyno charts. i went to Logan when they first opened and was one of their first dyno's on their newly installed dyno. A 1998Mark VIII that was other than k&n panel and catback system put down 205 at the wheels with 202 tq.. mine after tuning was 245whp 252wtq.(my numbers in my sig were cut off at 6000 because they were still messing with my redline.

Anyways heres some real $$ amounts instead of what you want to tell everyone i paid.

Logan tune and SCT tuner - 325 .. friend gave me the tuner.
Cobra s/r intake manifold - 350 got it here.
MAF and filter 200 - used.
Catback exhaust w/ muffler 275. 125 for muffler and 150 for piping .. local muff shop.
thermostadt was 9.00

so... was it worth about 40 extra wheeled horsepower.. Hell yeah.!!! so according to you, 225whp stock. just for kicks we'll add the 40whp that mine made directly after the other mark dyno'd, and 265whp.. not bad. it runs 13's.


Just ask questions before you make :q:q:q:q up.. like you might have asked,

"how much did you spend?" or searched the other threads i made earlier this year.

I'm not special, it's retarded..get it right!

and 5K passes is oh..ABOUT 1150 miles of WOT..but that's gonna generate alot of heat and wear and my trans is gonna die a horrible death.
