I just got off the phone with my insurance agent, getting coverage for the '96 DA. I said to put the same coverage as the other '96. She said I have full coverage on the other one which includes comp and collision. My memory must not be too good because I didn't remember that I had full coverage.

So now I am rethinking this because it is like $200 more EACH every six months to carry comp and collision. I don't know if it is worth it for cars this old. Probably not.

What do you think? What do you carry?

Holy shiznit!!! I've got Nationwide. Been with them for almost 25 years. I've got full coverage (comp, liability, collision) on the '97 Mark VIII and the future ex's '96 Cobra Convertible with just liability and comp on the '94 Exploder. I've also got roadside assistance and tow insurance. My homeowner's insurance is also through Nationwide. I pay $160 a month for the auto insurance (I don't know exactly how much homeowner's is because it's escrowed into my mortgage payment). Basically it has a lot to do with the multi-car discount and having homeowner's bundled in. My future ex looked at getting her own insurance on the Cobra and was told it would be over $200 a month just for that one car. So for the time being, she's paying me the $80 or so a month I pay for her car :D

Full on the 97 mark/camaro when being driven otherwise on storage
Liability on the 95 mark/tow car
If i could afford it the 95 mark would have full too

And your price increase is only about $1 a day.

I have two MK8s and an 85 Toyota pickup, the 97 with full coverage and all with towing, etc. for $95/month. Homeowners thru Geico with Travelers. Definitely better to bundle in this case! :D

I had liability for the first 5 years, It's been just about a year since I switched to comp. Just Liability was like $40/month through American Family. I switched to Comp for an extra 10 bucks/month in case I hit a deer, fallen tree ect ect. So I pay like $50 now(29yo with various discounts).

If they were mine i'd probably put Comp on both of them. But again this varies from person to person based on rates. Some people can get fc for the price I pay for comp.

I just got off the phone with HAGERTY concerning my CE. I have just liability with my insurance co for 2 MK 8s and they cost me $314 per yr ea. If either one gets totaled they pay around 3K. HAGERTY sent me an app to see if they would insure the CE. Full coverage with (0) deductible $292 yr. Add premium package which includes flat bed towing 50 miles, etc $342 yr. Their going to have a review to determine if its a collectable. Can't be used as a DD,has to be parked in a garage, etc. Two days ago I talked to a rep and she told me they would'nt insure it. Today they sent the application. Got to get it in the mail. Oh yea, it would be insured for 10K :D

State Farm - $187 every 6 months for liability. Because of the cars age where I live, full coverage isn't offered but even if it were, I wouldn't pay it. Not for the amount of time that I drive the car. As long as the other persons car is covered, if I hit someone, that's all I care about and not getting a ticket for not having insurance. So, $30 to $31 per month for the car.

I learned a huge lesson about having insurance with a company that has no local office / agent when the 94 blew up inside the garage. Took 6 months or longer but they finally paid for the garage damage in the house I'm renting. State Farm told me if something like that happened and I had them, they would have been out here the next day and started the process of clean up & repairs. My local State Farm office is 10-15 min away from me now. I also now have renters insurance with them too since I swapped over to them. The car rate is what it is because of a speeding ticket I got in Oct, 2010 and it has went down since then. It was $206 every 6 months and also because of the fire being on record in Jan 2010. Renters is $175 a year for 20K because this ain't my house but I lost a lot in the garage from the fire. Won't lose again. Hope it never happens again. :D If I would have had this when I had the 94, I would have been written a fat check and instead of me having to buy another Mark VIII, I could have used money from the check to buy one.

Full Coverage

$5,000 Medpay

$250,000/$500,000 Uninsured Motorist

$15,000 Uninsured Motorist Property Damage

$500 deductibles

$292.68 per year.

Clean driving record and a bit older (48) :)

Thru Esurance.

I have the higher limits to protect myself and my assets. I also happen to know that if you only get "minimum coverage" not only are you woefully under protected, you oftentimes get rated by underwriters like you are in the same group of folks who cannot get any higher coverage because they are bad risks.

By carrying higher limits (and keeping your driving record clean) you appear to insurance underwriters to be more responsible and a better risk and you will soon see your rates start to come down.

I work as an Aviation Insurance Agent and deal with insurance and underwriters every day, so trust me on this. ;)

Basic liability on 2 '98 Mark LSC's and a '89 C1500 $95 a month thru Plymouth Rock.

Not worth wasting money on collision on em really

State farm full coverage here, $500 deductible on collision, zero deductible on comprehensive..which payed off huge recently on my back window..I pay 300ish every 6 months (26 y/o male)

Guys, first & foremost, none of the prices discussed above are valid in this conversation... why? Your price is individualized by zipcode. Your age also has a lot to do with your price, anti-theft devices, your driving record & your insurance record.

Therefore I can pay a substantially different amount than another LVC member on this board just because I live in Miami-Dade County... which happens to be the case. Miami-Dade County has one of the highest insurance prices in the country. I DO NOT have full coverage & I pay $243 p/month for both Marks & my F-150 Lariat with GEICO. I had been a member of Progressive for 13 years, I was paying $310 p/month the last couple years with them for all 3 cars. Switched to State Farm & was paying $277p/month for about 15 months then I switched to GEICO last summer to obtain the cheapest price with the same coverages.

If I moved to Georgia I'd pay half that amount.

USAA changed their eligibility requirements last year. I'd been with Allstate for 20 years and rates never, ever, EVER went down. Not a single claim in those 20 years either on my car or home. In fact, they cancelled my homeowners insurance because of the one year they actually didn't make multi-millions off of us living East of 95 in Florida. I went with USAA and it cost me literally a third of what I was paying Allstate for two cars, even upgrading to collision on my weekend car. Any ex military with a good discharge is eligible now, and you can get accurate quotes on line. My favorite part was calling my Allstate agent and telling him to cancel my policy. He said he'd like the opportunity to match their rate, and when I told him what it was, he choked a little bit and admitted he couldn't come close to it. I believe it's admistered through Progressive. They still won't insure my home because of the location.

Only reason I've got collision of my Mark is because it's my DD. I know if anything happens they will total it because it will cost more to fix it than it's worth. But I can buy it back and use the money to fix it :D It wouldn't save me but about $10 bucks a month to take it off so it's just as well to keep it.
