What does it cost to have a new engine installed?

Theres a '00 V8 Ls here for sale cheap with a bent valve. There's also an '06 v8 for $500. Two questions:

1. Will an '06 v8 fit a '00 v8 Ls?
2. What should I expect to pay to have the engine swapped?

Yes, it will fit, but it won't work. The gen II engine control is too different.

How cheap is the car? I've seen first gen LS engines as cheap as $300

- the gen2 engine uses VVT, throttle-by-wire, ..etc - so the gen1 PCM will not work
- the mechanics around all the little differences (intake, throttle, ...etc) are quite a bit to deal with
- the PCM bus on the Gen2 uses CAN and therefore all the interal systems use CAN
- the SRS system is a little different
- the gen2 transmission is slightly different (5R55S)

WOW I JUST looked at this very same LS! I had seen it while driving by! I didn't know it was on CL. Its parked about 4 miles from my house in front of a repair shop. Lots of parts are gone but the engine is there! Interior looks mint. I'll be calling him tomm. AM!
